handheld theora video camera wish list
What would your wish list be for a handheld theora video camera? 640x480 25fps/30fps 320x240 25fps/30fps Record to a memory card (SD) Lan / WIFI support (auto/manual upload of file on memory card) Live streaming (icecast like) Videoconferencing support Voip (sip) speex audio I am bouncing the idea around of developing a handheld video camera designed for mobile video streaming...

Hello! I use Fedora 10 x86 with AMD64 2600Mhz, 1Gb Ram, onboard Geforce 6150SE VGA and wine release 1.1.14. On Windows XP, game run 30FPS, on linux only 10-15 FPS. This is a normally? How to i reduce fps? Thanks! Sorry for my bad english =) Nikolas Slivka

...ect referenced on the video4linux mailing list, and I thought others on this list might be interested (assuming they don't already know about it): http://www.opencircuits.com/OpenHDCapture To summarize, the goal is to develop an open hardware device that can capture video at 720p30 (1280x720, 30fps). At the moment I am not sure if Theora has a direct relationship with the project, such as proving useful directly, but there is definitely a spiritual link in that the goal is to provide an open platform that can be implemented "freely", just as Theora exists to allow a completely free...

Counterstrike Source, Gold Status?
Hi, im a fan of this game for quite some time now besides the community its a really nice time killer. After reading the wine app db entry it should run well, but it doesnt. It almost immediately drops below 30fps if something happens. Yes it looks almost like the windows version, the ingame font looks different. But whats the point if you cant win any fight? Ive used the latest wine on gentoo and ubuntu(fresh install), my hardware: x2 3800+, 2gb ram, nvidia 8600gt In windows it breaks down to 70fps which...

More than 50% performance decrease.
I just installed Xubuntu 8.04, Wine 0.9.60 and Warcraft 3. Ive set it so it uses OpenGL and in game i get less than 30fps with everything on low and a low resolution. On Windows i can run it on medium with 1280x800 at 60fps. Im new to Xubuntu/linux so i dont know what could be causing it. Is this expected from Wine? Specs are 1GB RAM, Intel C2D 1.66GHZ, Intel 945GM onboard graphics.

FPGA implementation in the camera
...ller FPGA and was able to produce just motion JPEG utilizing 97% of the resources. The new (model 333) camera uses 3 times bigger FPGA (and also faster), it also has increased frame buffer and system memory. I've already ported old code to the new camera, it can produce motion JPEG at 1280x1024@30fps (1600x1200@20 fps, 2048x1536@12fps) and uses only 1/3 of the FPGA. So now I'm ready to start working on video compression (probably no motion compensation at first). Considering Ogg Theora format I've got a couple questions I could not find answers to: 1 - Legal stuff. Is it legal to imple...

Trying to run (tweak) a few games on Wine
...s. Version of Halo being used : Halo Custom Edition 1.07 Live for Speed : I've noticed that performance for this game was worse than Windows XP. I was able in Windows XP to race with multiple cars at 60FPS. Now in Linux, at the same track, and the same amount of cars, I can't do more than 30FPS, which isn't good enough for me as I'm very sensitive to low framerate. Are there any tweaks that are known to increase performance in DirectX8 games ? Also, trying to register the game gives the message : "Cannot find Windows Product ID". Everything else works fine though. Versio...

Video and audio not in sync
I had some shows on tivo that I figured I wanted to keep on a CD in case I might ever want to watch them again. (Not that you care, butthis really is for my own personal use. I wouldn't have the bandwidth to "share" this stuff even if I wanted to.) So I downloaded a 1 hour show with TiVo ToGo, and I jumped through a few hoops to "free the mpeg", and I got a nice 2 GB

gstreamer oggmux and variable framerate
Hallo all, I currently hacking on cheese an got problem with variable framerate produced by webcams (2-30fps). There is no problem to encode it with theora, but problem to mux it in ogg. Or at least to play produced file. There is no problem tu mux it in to matroska. My question is: should actually ogg support timestamps, also variable framerate? If yes: it seems to be some where broken. Here is what i...

option to push "duplicate frame" packet to oggmux
Hallo all, I started this discussion today on gstreamer.irc and ogg-dev list. So there seems to be different results. Probably i need to fill a bug on gstreamer... here was my question to ogg-dev > I currently hacking on cheese an got problem with variable framerate > produced by webcams (2-30fps). Interesting EverQuest overlay performance
...with Wine+EverQuest trying to see how fast I could get my EverQuest session to run the last couple of days. I had been through all the fun NVIDIA bits related to xorg.conf and mucked around a WINEPREFIX'ed wine with the registry all to no real avail and it mostly stays at ~50% CPU when set to 30fps and the CPU is linearly correlated to the FPS, mostly without regard to resolution (tried 800x600 and 1400x1050). On a lark, I pressed the F11 key, which hides the small "lag-o-meter" in the upper right hand corner and to my surprise I immediately dropped my CPU load by 10%. Continuing...

Ogg Theora
Greetings-- I saw on /. that you guys are working on an improved version of VP3. We use a customized ON2 codec for a lot of our movies. I create animation for our VisionDome (see URL below), which means very large frames (up to QXGA) at 30fps; our movies often top 2GB in size, and they've gone up to 8.5GB. They're all in plain old .avi format, believe it or not. So far, our TruMotion codec is the only thing we've found that will allow clean playback of such large frames, but we're always searching for alternatives. I...

I sent Andrey a message saying that I would be delighted to post an announcement at www.theora.org when he has a sample of 1280x1024@30fps in ogg theora format. Seeing the progress that Andrey is making, I feel less of a sense of urgency about a port of theora to the DSP Stamp or other embedded hardware. The Elphel network camera FPGA may be a proof of concept of hardware implementation of the theora codec. John PS Andrey'...

I?m developing an application that needs to record audio and also draw graphics at 30fps. Using a 32kHz sample rate the vorbis decoder causes choppiness in the graphics because we will typically only do any compression roughly every 1/16 seconds (2048 sample window size) so we take just a little too long to process every second frame. We have no preemptive multithreading but I can...

...ased). I have a simple (or not so simple) task to achieve: stream the video from one end through the jabber server to another end and show the stream in my buddy list. i can grab with some native code images from /dev/video0, grabbing from vfw://0 should be no big deal, either. I don't need 30fps - 5 fps are more than sufficient. Q: 1) Can i use theora already to encode my video stream? 2) Can i use theora to decode my video stream and get a single image from the api which i can draw somewhere (in java into my buddy list) 3) can i use something as a proxy? i heard rumors of icecast2 ......
