Tripp Lite is up to no good
...cefully. lsusb spots the ups. The vendor id is 09ae, product id 0001- correct. And starting tripplite_usb as root, port auto, says: Detected a UPS: TRIPP LITE/TRIPP LITE SMART1050SLT HOWEVER... then there are a splash of "unknown" messages, of which the killer is: Unknown protocol (3004) attached to Tripp Lite SMART1050SLT Uh-oh. 3004 is new. tripplite_usb only speaks 3003. Yes, Tripp Lite has a shiny new undocumented protocol, folks. It is probably based on 3003- but who knows? One step forward, two steps back.

Anyone still have a Tripp-Lite 3004-protocol USB UPS?
I was cleaning up some digital detritus when I ran across an old SVN branch for the proprietary Tripp Lite 3004 USB protocol (the non-PDC variety). It looks very similar to the binary 3005 protocol, which has been added to NUT, but I'd like to have someone sanity-check things before we claim compatibility. Any volunteers? I'm not sure what models this covers, except maybe the SMART1050SLT. These ar...

using form_tag with a get request with params
I''m trying to create a search field using the form_tag helper. The problem is when I enter a search, the url_for returns an address such as host.com/search?term=foo. I want to use the format host.com/search/term. I have it set up in routes to recognize the format search/:term, but form_tag always uses the format host.com/search?term=foo. Does anybody know how to do this? Cheers! Ray

Can a user belong to two groups in Samba ???
Hi, I'm using samba 3b3 (+ldapsam) and have created a user belonging to two groups : - his primary group is mapped to the "Domain Users" Windows group, - his secondary one is mapped to the "Domain Admins" Windows group. Unfortunately, only the first group seems to be known by Samba, since the user doesn't become a "Domain Admin" at all (but he is a
