[PATCH] Make com32 printf obey width-restriction on %s
Hi,
The following patch is against 3.36. It lets the width-modifier to the
%s conversion specifier restrict the length of the formatted string as
well as expand it. In addition, it adds the strnlen function, which
only exists as a prototype today.

syslinux-3.36-pre8 feedback
Tested floppy boot on two machines (one PII 350, one 486DX4)
Floppy boot with syslinux is very very slow, more than 18 mn to boot a linux
kernel from floppy on the 2 machines.
Tested with 3 different disquettes that were know to work, boot is reached
after this very long time.
Noise from floppy head make think floppy wait approximatly one minute
between each read.
No problem with pxe boot with

SYSLINUX 3.36-pre6 (release candidate)
I have, hopefully, found and fixed the issue with non-kernel binaries
that appeared in 3.35. As a result, I have pushed out 3.36-pre6 and am
classifying it as a release candidate. Please try it out, especially if
you have had problems with 3.35.

Support DHCP sname field in PXELINUX
I have discovered that the JUNOS DHCP server in Juniper J-series routers
doesn't support setting the next-server IP address field (I have filed a
bug report with Juniper and they are working on it). Instead, it puts
the "boot server" in the sname field, which PXELINUX currently ignores.
Here's a simple patch (vs. 3.36) that will take an IP string in the
field. My assembly is

syslinux-3.36 Physical Floppy Disk Access Problem
Hello,
I am using the pxelinux.0 and memdisk files from distribution syslinux-3.36.
I am no longer able to access the real floppy disk drive B: instead I just
get a mirrored copy of the emulated floppy disk A:
The default config file is as follows
label 1
kernel memdisk
append initrd=kd202.img
I was previously using the sysliunx-3.20 distribution which gave me access

syslinux-3.36 and 3.35 compilation broke /dev/null
I have tested with 3.31 (does not broke /dev/null) and 3.35/3.36 that broke
/dev/null
I verify that /dev/null exist, then compile one of the target available on
top Makefile and /dev/null no more exist.
Example
root:/usr/src/syslinux-3.36# cat /dev/null
root:/usr/src/syslinux-3.36# make .depend
Makefile:274: .depend: No such file or directory
rm -f .depend

PXELinux 3.11 vs 3.36
Hi,
Apologies in advance if this is rather long winded ...
I have a Windows 2000 DHCP/FTP/TFTP server, serving up a
linux-based diags package using PXELinux. Everything is
working fine, just like I'd expect.
I also have some WinImage images of DOS floppy disks that
I'd also like to serve via PXE. So I made up some simple
menus using menu.c32 to serve both the floppy image and the

anyone using pxelinux.0 > 3.36 successfully with HP DLXXX G3, G5?
Hello *
this morning I tried to upgrade from pxelinux 3.11 to 3.84 and
discovered that the localboot stuff does not work on HP DL360 G3 and G5.
The latest syslinux Version I found with a working localboot is 3.36.
pxelinux.cfg/default:
default harddisk
prompt 1
label harddisk
localboot 0
implicit 0
timeout 250
This so simple, it should just work, shouldn't it?

SYSLINUX 3.36-pre4: new MBR
I have just pushed out SYSLINUX 3.36-pre4; the main difference is a
rewritten MBR which can boot from logical partitions. I plan to
eventually submit that to be added into (s)fdisk in util-linux.

Latest chan_mobile
Hello,
I recently updated my asterisk-addons-1.6.2 to the last revision and I have
this problem that I don't know how to interpret, bug or not. I connected a
Nokia N80 phone to use chan_mobile and everything works great until the
phone starts getting disconnected after the call finished and sometimes
during the call attempt.
Is this a bug or a possible known issue for Nokia phones?

ISOLINUX versions 3.36 and 3.53 can't boot VIA EPIA CL Motherboard, version 3.31 can
Hi,
I'm using Kubuntu and have a problem with the ISOLINUX CDROM booter
with versions used since (K)Ubuntu 7.04.
The ISOLINUX booter versions 3.36 and 3.53 do not boot my motherboard.
The version shipped with Ubuntu 7.04 is I believe ISOLINUX 3.31 but
it displays for such a short time I could be wrong. I'm writing to
this mail list in case the original Ubuntu bug report never made it

memdisk from 3.36 crashing on Dell PowerEdge 1955
Hello list,
I had to boot a Dell Diagnostic Disk today, and tried doing this via
memdisk - which was when I noticed memdisk isn't working for me at all,
neither from pxelinux nor syslinux.
After trying around with 'raw', 'bigraw' and the like I noticed it
doesn't even do anything when just using:
LABEL diag
KERNEL memdisk
.. when I try that:
boot: diag

bootcov or robcov for odds ratio?
Dear list,
I made a logistic regression model (MyModel) using lrm and penalization
by pentrace for data of 104 patients, which consists of 5 explanatory
variables and one binary outcome (poor/good). Then, I found bootcov and
robcov function in rms package for calculation of confidence range of
coefficients and odds ratio by bootstrap covariance matrix and

Problem booting extlinux from disk
Hi,
I am having a problem booting from a disk installed with extlinux. The
exact configuration that worked with version 3.36, when upgraded to
3.50, appears to still work on the same disk. But if I zap out the disk
(i.e. start from scratch again) and install extlinux, the disk fails to
boot. Extlinux stops at the boot: prompt after displaying "Could not
find kernel image: linux".

gcc_ok fail to detect unrecognized option
Even with gcc-4.1.1, gcc does not return an error if an option is not
supported
It just ouput a message to stderr but does not return a value different from
0.
The result is that there is some warnings about every unrecognized option
and compilation continue.

Dell problems with PXELINUX 3.62
Good day again Daniel,
So the first thing I did was to remove the >NUL for your XMSDSK line and
put a PAUSE after it in AUTOEXEC.BAT. That way, I could see the error
message:
*** XMS RAMdisk v1.9I (FU - 08/98): XMS get free mem error.
Then I noticed that if you run AUTOEXEC.BAT manually from the DOS CLI,
XMSDSK actually succeeds! So that led to a new test: Duplicate the
XMSDSK line.
