Problem installing Rmpi with lam on SGI SLES9
Hi, I've been trying here to install Rmpi on an SGI IA-64 machine with 64 processors, running SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9, R 2.4.0 and lam-mpi 7.1.3. While I've read of similar problems on this list, I think I've got an entirely new set of error messages to contribute (see below). I'm not sure what the actual error is and what the @gprel relocation message is about. Any help

Question about how to reduce samba 3.3.3 install size or why it has been increased dramatically from 3.0.34 to 3.3.3
Hello, can anyone give me some tips why the file size of various samba executables has been increased dramatically from 3.0.34 to 3.3.3 (e.g. smbd 3.5MB -> ~7MB) The reason is that it is necessary for our project to keep the size as small as possible. You can have a look into the makefile here:

libcurl issue when manually installing R-3.3.3 on Debian 3.16.0-4-amd64
Dear Dirk, Do you mean binaries for R-3.3.3? I could not find any link on the page you mention I downloaded R-3.3.3.tar.gz from https://cran.r-project.org/src/base/R-3/ then ran ./configure I also tried ./configure --enable-R-shlib based on a suggestion found in http://jenzopr.github.io/bioinformatics/2016/05/03/r-wheezy-build.html Many thanks, Lucio On 4 April 2017 at 17:17, Dirk

R on gentoo amd64 (gcc 3.3.3) is unstable
dear wizards: FYI: gentoo is a linux meta distribution, which compiles all packages. Once running, gentoo is stable on most applications. (it has some problems with system tools, such as grub.) the compiler is gcc 3.3.3. I do not expect anyone to track down for me why R fails on the gentoo amd64+gcc3.3.3 system, but I thought that it would be good to put it on the record to save

R 3.3.3 is released
The build system rolled up R-3.3.3.tar.gz (codename "Another Canoe") this morning. The list below details the changes in this release. You can get the source code from http://cran.r-project.org/src/base/R-3/R-3.3.3.tar.gz or wait for it to be mirrored at a CRAN site nearer to you. Binaries for various platforms will appear in due course. For the R Core Team, Peter Dalgaard
