Xapian 1.2.0 build fails on libxapian.la target - Solaris 9 (SunOS 5.9) sun4u SPARC
Hi all,
I've only pasted the last few lines of where the Xapian build fails
below (the entire piece is 6639 lines long). I didn't get any warnings
regarding zlib or libuuid from configure, so I'm assuming I have
compatible versions. I am using libtool 2.2.6b, GNU ld 2.20.2010303. I
know gcc 3.3.2 is a little behind the times, but I see the the
documentation the minimum requirement is

Installation and Configuration Issues
Hi group,
FYI, I have successfully installed and ran icecast1 on my home Debian
machine.
I am now attempting to create a production server with icecast2 for MP3
streaming of some educational radio shows that we produce here. I'm
running into some snags.
I have gotten icecast2 installed. However, when I go to the status page
(http://localhost:8000/status.xsl), I get served a page, but

Cannot browse domain user list with 3.5.4
Hi,
I am using Samba as a Domain Controler without AD nor LDAP. Everything works fine for a long time with samba 3.3.2.
I am trying to upgrade to the latest samba release 3.5.4 .
Here is the procedure I followed :
- download, configure , and make samba 3.5.4
- stop the samba daemon (3.3.2 )
- bakup the /usr/local/samba tree where samba 3.3.2 is installed
- make install , (in the same location

difficulty in Ubuntu 14.04 apt-getting R 3.3.2
Hi:
I have a Dockerfile, which builds an image which installed R 3.3.2 in
Ubuntu 14.04, but building using that Dockerfile seems to have stopped
working and I am unclear why.
I believe the relevant error is:
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet

W2K with Samba 3.3.2 problem
Hi,
We've had a problem using Samba 3.3.2 and windows 2000 workstations sp4.
After many tests, it was discovered that when the netbios name has an hyphen
the windows 2000 workstations don't see the groups on the samba domain, but
when the name is changed for one without hyphen the error doesn't occur.
How to reproduce the problem?
- Configure samba 3.3.2 as domain controller
- Fill

Problems Building R on AIX 5.2.0.0 (Update)
Hi,
My previous message is appended: I'm still struggling with building on AIX. I
updated my config.site to follow the suggestions from R-admin:
MAIN_LDFLAGS=-Wl,brtl
SHLIB_LDFLAGS=-Wl,-G
This led to an error during configure:
checking whether mixed C/Fortran code can be run... configure: WARNING: cannot
run mixed C/Fortan code
configure: error: Maybe check LDFLAGS for paths to Fortran

Problems Building Ron AIX 5.2.0.0 (Solved)
Happily I got this to work, largely by trial-and-error. In hopes that this will
help somebody else, my config.site ended up being:
OBJECT_MODE=64
R_PAPERSIZE=letter
CC=/usr/local/bin/gcc
MAIN_LDFLAGS=-Wl,-brtl
SHLIB_LDFLAGS=-Wl,-G
Which is virtually identical to that recommended in R-admin: one of my problems
was using "-W1,brtl" rather than "-W1,-brtl". This was R 2.0.1

Upgrade to 3.3.2
Hello list!
I'm upgrading from 3.0.25b to 3.3.2. The package configures and makes with
no errors, but on restarting smbd or nmbd I get an "error while loading
shared libraries: libtalloc.so.1: cannot open shared object file: no such
file or directory".
Both libtalloc.so and libtalloc.so.1 are in /usr/local/samba/lib, and appear
to be the same files as in the 3.3.2 package. Samba

Ubuntu Jaunty samba 3.3.2 print$ no write rights even though I do; -)
Initially when I posted my access problems to print$ I was using the new registry based smb.conf I had my whole configuration in the registry. Now I move my printers and print$ back to the text based smb.conf and I copied the standard ubuntu debian [printers] and [print$] out of the original ubuntu package smb.conf and the only modification that I made was under the [print$] I change read only to

configure problem - mixed fortran/c
I'm trying to build R 1.9.0 to get the opportunity to build rpy for some
folks at my office. (I'm a Python guy, not an R guy, so I'm completely
unfamiliar with the machinations of building R.) I'm having trouble getting
past the configure step. A plain old configure generates this output at the
end:

compat-gcc-32-c++-3.2.3-47.3 and 3.3.2 support
Hi all,
4.3/rh release is shipping compat-gcc-32-c++-3.2.3-47.3 which i can see includes
3.2.3 & 3.3.4 support but if i need support for 3.3.2 libstdc++ what should i do?
I've searched for compat pkgs and no one has 3.3.3 support, im wondering if
installing 3.3.2 gcc tools from gnu sources is a good idea or check if 3.3.2 rpm
for this exists.
Is that compat-* pkgs something related to

Ubuntu Jaunty samba 3.3.2 print$ no write rights even though I do
I finally fixed my problem by removing samba completely removing samba and reinstalling it. What I discovered is it appears to be an issue with rights. When I reinstalled samba the /var/lib/samba had rights like this.
drwxrwxr-x+ 5 root root 4096 2010-01-11 23:27 samba
On my original install where the 5 is it was a 6. After the reinstall the rights the rights on /var/lib/samba was reset to 5
