Integrating samba with existing AD
Hi everyone, I am currently trying to set-up a samba server in my network in order to replace the existing windows samba server. It's been now two weeks that I am struggling with a vicious problem, and I cannot see any issue right now. Before I loose all my hairs, I am sharing with you this problem : hopefully, someone will have a tip for me. The software involved : Server Linux

Upgrade samba from 3.28 to 3.29 to fix winbind issue.
How do you upgrade samba from 3.0.28 to 3.0.29 to fix winbind issue? My OS is CentOS 4.5. I haven't been able to find a RPM above 3.0.28. for samba. I backed all of the files that I needed and removed the RPM's for 3.28 and installed 3.0.33 doing a ./configure, make, make install and was hoping to reconfigure all the data but the smb service was not where to be found I even rebooted the

Version 3.0.33-3.29.el5_5 + Winbind: UNIX group as valid users
I have setup a Centos5.5 VMWare guest with Samba and Winbind for Active Directory integration, using GUI tools. Authentication works flawlessly, with automatic home directory creation. What I want to achieve now is using local UNIX groups to controll access to shared folders. smb.conf global section: workgroup = COGITANS password server = domainserver.hq.cogitans.it realm = HQ.COGITANS.IT

kinit succeeded but ads_sasl_spnego_krb5_bind failed
BODY { font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px; }Hi, I've seen many people complain about this error message by Googling around, but I've never found a satisfactory explanation as to the cause and resolution. I'm hoping someone on the list will be able to point me in the right direction? I'm attempting to get a RHEL 5.5 client configured to use winbind auth

pdb_increment_bad_password_count
After moving from Redhat AS4 to RHEL 5.5 we started noticing these error messages in the messages log. Upgrade procedure was to build new machine with updated OS, install new samba, duplicate existing ldap server connections, and then shutdown the old box and put new one in place. Messages were not seen on AS4 box and smb.conf file is identical on new box. I am wondering if there was a change

RHEL 7.6 released
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/7/html-single/7.6_release_notes/ They silently rebased GNOME to 3.28, which wasn't in the 7.6 beta nor in the release notes. Can't wait to see it on my desktop. Too bad we still have to wait for 3.29, which has more fixes for the huge memory leak of gnome-shell. -- Yan Li

Samba 3.0, fuse-hdfs and write problems
Hi folks, I research at the moment a connection over fuse and samba for hadoop-cluster. Its my private playground, but I have some issues I can't figure out why they happen. I use RHEL5.7, packetlist: rpm -qa|grep samba samba-3.0.33-3.29.el5_7.4.x86_64 samba-common-3.0.33-3.29.el5_7.4.x86_64 2 servers, one provides samba-shares and one I use as client.
