Trying to join a Solaris 8 box to Windows 2000 AD.
I am having major problems with SAMBA samba-3.0alpha20 in trying to connect
to
Windows 2000 AD. I have attached info if that helps. Any help you can give
me
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I can get samba-3.0alpha20 working if I include reference to our NT PDC
in the smb.conf file and do a net rpc join command.
This joins our NT PDC domain which has a trust

I can print at the moment OK from my freebsd box to my network printer using
cups, i can print from the shell and from a GUI (GNOME).
I also have a professional w2k as a client and i want to print in my network

Kerberos and smbmount
Hi,
I have been playing with the latest alpha (samba-3.0alpha20) for a while
now trying to get Kerberos and smbmount working together to access shares
on a Windows 2000 Server SP3.
As I understand it, without modifications to the code this should not work
at all. I tried to make a few changes, namely setting c->use_kerberos=True
and commenting out c->use_spnego=False. I also had to comment

Samba3 parallel installable RPMs for Mandrake 9.0
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I have been updating the packaging for Mandrake in HEAD, which means it
is now possible to build RPMs of HEAD which are parallel installable
with Mandrake RPMs of 2.2.x. Of course, you can only run one version of
samba on a given interface.
To do this, update to HEAD cvs if your snapshot is older than late
yesterday. then:
$ cd packaging/Mandrake

SUMMARY: Can't 'save-as' from MS Word
Thanks a million to Wendell Wilson, who offered a solution
to the problem we've been seeing regarding saving a document in MS Word.
I know we really do need to upgrade to at least 2.2.6, and I am planning
it -
but this gives us little more breathing room with everything else going
on.
Once again, appreciate your help!

Samba PDC + 2K/XP
Hey,
I am just wondering how you enforce security (such as permissions) on local
workstations while running Samba 2.2.x as a PDC with 2K/XP workstations? As
some of us don't have or want 2000 Server to enforce things like policies
etc... how do you all do it. E.g. If we want 'Administrator' to have access
to all start menu etc... yet standard users to have only programs, no
settings

Samba is fast with slow hardware, but slow with fast hardware.
Samba consistently runs faster loading directory (browsing) listings from a
5400 rpm IDE disk than it does loading from a) raid-1 LVD scsi array b)
independent scsi devices on a different, non-raid controller. This is truly
baffling.
I tried to use the scientific method as much as possible. I have tested
using the following hardware: 2-way SMP Piii 550/512 mb. 900mhz,
athlon/512mb. Mylex

Samba 3.020 and Win2K with Kerberos 5
Hi,
I've posted this one also to comp.protocols.smb, but the list seems to be
more hacky :-)
I have M$ Win2K PDC with Kerberos authentication system.
PDC
Win2K--------------SAMBA-3.020-------------LINUX
Kerberos5
It was somewhere told (Samba 3.0 prealpha guide to Kerberos
authentication)that this should work.
I'm using RedHat 7.2 with latest patches (obtained via net from redhat
site).

Win2K Printer Driver Problems - Hi Jerry!!
Nope, close but no cigar.
With 2.2.6Pre2 Word started to behave itself but Outlook acts as though
landscape is a foreign concept(i.e everything prints portrait regardless of
page setup). Spoolsv also crashes on the Win2K workstations requiring a
manual restart of the spooler service. We will downgrade to 2.2.5 and try
Jerry's patch.
In another message Jerry talks about "running"
