3.06 "home directory service number"
Hi, I successfully upgraded our servers to 3.06 last night and almost everything works great so far. One point that made me happy about 3.06 was this one: >From the Release Notes: * Ensure home directory service number is correctly reused (inspired by patches from Michael Collin Nielsen ). There still seems to be one small bug left: when a user logs out and in again within a short period

SYSLINUX 3.06 released
Okay, let's hope *fourth* time is a charm... Changes in 3.06: * Fix typo that caused the ramdisk to load in the wrong place. Changes in 3.05: * New API function "shuffle and boot"; allows COM32 modules to load or construct (almost) arbitrarily complex objects, e.g. a kernel and its initrd/initramfs in pieces, and have the API core

unique with tolerance
Dear R Users and Developers, I am trying to do the equivalent of v <- c(1,2,3,3,2,1,) vu <- unique(v) for a vector such as v2 <- c(1.02, 2.03, 1.00, 3.04, 3.06) vut <- ... As indicated in the subject, we need approximately unique values with a defined tolerance, i.e. for the v2 vector the resulting vut vector using a tolerance of .1 should return e.g. [1] 1.02 2.03 3.06 Also,

Best way to update old Mdk box w/2.09 to 3.06??
Mates, I am at the point that I will have to update my trusty samba 2.0.9 to 3.0.6 or 2.2.11. (damn SP2) Problem is that my production machine is still running Mandrake 7.2 and, of course, there aren't any RPMs for the old distro. So, I guess my option is to install from source. Do I need to rpm -e the 2.0.9 before attempting to compile and install 2.2.11 or 3.0.6? My server is a simple

question about disk performance in domU
Hi all, When I ran the experiments to compare an application''s execution time in both a domU (named cctest1) and a native Linux machine (named ccn10), I noticed the application executes faster in domU. The host of the domU (named ccn9) and ccn10 are two nodes of a cluster and they have same hardware configurations. domU (cctest1) is created by exporting loopback files from dom0 on

timeout
Hi I dont work much with syslinux and linux. But in my last test with pxelinux I woundert why the timout function is ignored by pxelinux. There is no hint in the documentation or in the web. I've figured out that the timout function doesn't work if the prompt setting is 0. timout 50 prompt 0 doesn't work I've tested it in versio 3.07, 3.06 and an "unknown" old

ext3+quota+load: deadlock
Hi, I'm having what looks like a deadlock using kernel 2.4.18 + ext3 + quota on a pretty loaded system. meanwhile, i moved back to ext2 again. I'm using mount-2.11g and Quota utilities version 3.05 (I also tried with 3.06). I also tried with kernel 2.4.16 just in case, but the problem exists anyway. Anything I can do? JP

Error messages 3.0.6pre1
I too have the same issue (reported by Warren) - in that 3.06 backups appear valid, but the terminal shows the following errors: rsync(18819) malloc: *** error for object 0xf305c: Non-aligned pointer being freed *** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug I'm looking for confirmation that these are simply anomalies, and indeed are not cause for concern. Thanks.

Need help with pipe()
Hello. I have an R program that calls gawk (GNU Awk 3.06 for Windows) from within pipe() to preprocess a large file before it is read into a data frame with read.table(). I've recently upgraded from Win98SE to WinXP, and have also upgraded from R1.5.0 to R1.6.1 over the past month or so. This program worked before the upgrade(s), but now fails. I observe the following sort of behavior with
