Samba 3.0.23 winbind use default domain = yes behaviour
Hello list,
I encountered a problem in Samba 3.0.23 regarding the winbind use default
domain = yes behaviour.
It only works for the users an NOT anymore for the Group. So this make
getent group to show NETBIOSDOMAINNAME/group which course mail squid
configuration to fail. My squid configuration allowed access based on the AD
groups, which are provided by Winbindd.

Samba connections issues (3.0.23 on Solaris 8 with NIS+)
I'm curious if anyone has suggestions about a problem we have encountered.
We have recently upgraded a 2.2.8a server to 3.0.23. The server in question
is running Solaris 8 with NIS+. Storage is from our SAN. Since the
migration, we have found that we no longer have access to several shares.
They are connected, but we are unable to get to them.
Samba will indicate that we are connected to

3.0.23 for Debian Sarge: LDAP problems
Hi,
I always prefer the Samba packages for Debian-Stable from the
Samba-Team and I never had a problem so far (thank you, Simo!).
Yesterday I updated from 3.0.22 to 3.0.23 in my LDAP-based network. I
updated samba.schema, added "index sambaSID eq,sub" to my slapd.conf
and ran slapindex. When I started slapd and samba afterwards, I saw
error messages like these (from smbd.log):

3.0.23 - different errors on solaris 8 (Error in dskattr...)
Hi,
I just compiled samba 3.0.23 on our Sun Solaris 8 server. 3.0.22 was
running fine and I used the same compiler options for 3.0.23.
$ ./configure --with-acl-support --prefix=/usr/local/samba3023
--with-quotas --with-included-popt --without-ldap --with-vfs
gcc version 3.4.2
GNU Make 3.80
Running make now throws a lot these warnings:

Problem with 3.0.23 upgrade from 3.0.22 with rfc2307 patch
I have upgraded one of my servers from a 3.0.22 implementation using the
rfc2307 patch I supplied some months ago to the 3.0.23 release. I am now
getting some unexplaned failures and would like some pointers as to
where to start looking.
I am getting the following logged in the samba logs when trying to start
the servers.

3.0.23: assigning users to printers
Hello
I just upgraded our PDC from 3.0.22 to 3.0.23 with all the bells and
whistles.
I am running OpenLdap as a backend and did what's been written in the
Changelog regarding indexing.
The new version started up fine and worked all right. Netlogons, shares,
printing etc. I could also assign ACLs to my files as before.
The PDC also works as a printserver running cups with the drivers

Security = ADS and 3.0.23 Upgrade
Since upgrading to 3.0.23 I have encountered several problems. (latest
Debian Sarge with deb's from samba.org and security = ADS). All was
working flawlessly before.
*1.* getent passwd no longer lists machine accounts.
*2.* On the Win2K pdc, the samba system's "DNS name" on the general tab
is now listed as localhost.localdomain, and the operating system is
still listed as

samba-3.0.22 -> samba-3.0.23 pam_winbind issue(s)
Previously had samba-3.0.22 on RedHat Enterprise 4 functioning happily,
using pam_winbind to authenticate against our campus active directory
(currently only doing password authentication, account info is still
retrieved via NIS).

Use "default domain = yes" not working in 3.0.23 ...
Hi all,
This weekend I upgraded my samba installation with the latest debian
package, which is 3.0.23. After the upgrade, "default domain = yes"
doesn't seem to work anymore. If I do a getent passwd I get:
user:*:10096:10000:My pretty user:/home/winnt/Domain/user:/bin/bash
If I do a getent group I get:
Domain.Group:x:10064:Domain.User
When doing wbinfo -g I also get

winbindd reporting wrong sid, but only sometimes on samba 3.0.23
Hi all
I have a problem that starts driving me crazy...
Win2k3 ADS, added some attributes like loginshell, gid, uid etc.
Unix clients use NSS_LDAP to get 'passwd' data and kerberos to authenticate
users. Authentication does not happen via LDAP.
winbindd is used to autocreate sid => uid/gid mappings.
This worked very fine with samba 3.0.14a.
Upgraded to samba 3.0.23

Password Chat/Sync problems with 3.0.23
Hi,
Following an upgrade to 3.0.23, it appears that my UNIX password
sync/chat is no longer working (although I can't confirm it wasn't
broken in 3.0.21, it was working before). The XP clients throw up a "no
permission to change password" error when the users attempt to renew
passwords. I've carefully checked my password chat script and it
appears to be OK. The logs

domain since 3.0.1. Starting in 3.0.23 and 3.0.23b I can't do a "net

fine w/ this userid. Samba was built with gcc 4.1.1. See below:

Cannot add ACL entry in Windows.
Hello,
Just upgraded from Samba 3.0.22 to 3.0.23, running on a SlackWare Linux
Box with a 2.4.31 kernel. All Unix users and samba users are stored in
ldap. Using setfacl renders correct user/groups in the windows acl
editor, and works perfectly. However, when I try to add a user/group in
the Security tab for a share/folder I get the following message

Mac can't connect to debian after upgrade to Samba 3.0.23
After upgrading my Debian box to Samba 3.0.23, I'm no longer able to
connect to it from my Mac OS X 3.9 machine. I can still connect from the
linux box TO the mac, but not the other way around. I need to be able to
mount the linux volume on the mac. I've had to downgrade to samba 3.0.22
on linux to get it to work. My home network is a simple 2 machine setup
with a wired connection. My
