TDM400P in 2U server?
...k systems-integrators; I am creating a rackmount Asterisk server, and would like to start with a TDM400P card. I believe the TDM400P card would work in this server, with the PCI-X configuration: http://www.aberdeeninc.com/abcatg/MB1130.htm , which is the this: http://supermicro.com/products/system/2U/6024/SYS-6024H-82R.cfm Is this correct? I'm concerend about the height of the card, and whther it will work in a PCI-X slot. Thanks for any help!

OT: Measure 2U Server Amp Usage
Hi, Running a bunch of CentOS servers on 2U supermicro equipment, usually with 8 drives on Adaptec SmartRAID V or LSI Megaraid. In designing a rack in a data center, the question arises as to how to measure the amperage the server uses, prior to investing in power drops that actually do that for you, even remotely, for about $260.00-300USD...

Recommended PCIe SATA/SAS Controller?
Greetings all- I need to purchase a PCIe SATA or SAS controller(non-raid) for a Supermicro 2U system. It should be directly bootable. Any recommendations? The system will be running CentOS 5.4 as an LTSP system. Thanks! --Tim

Cluster fun
I've priced some 1 and 2U Dell servers. Now, I'd like to perform a price comparison of COTS hardware for 1 and 2U servers. What VAR companies do people recommend I check out for putting machines together? I'm perfectly capable of installing and swapping hardware components when/where needed, so on-sight supp...

low end file server with h/w RAID - recommendations
...t; > > 2.5" SAS drives spinning at 10k and 15k RPM are the performance solution for online storage, like databases and so forth. also make more sense for large arrays of SSDs, as they don't even come in 3.5". With 2.5" you can pack more disks per U (24-25 2.5" per 2U face, vs 12 3.5" max per 2U)... more disks == more IOPS. That?s not for storage because it?s so expensive that you can only use it for the limited amounts of data that actually benefit from, or require, the advantage in performance. For this application, it makes perfectly sense. > 3.5&q...

OT: Need some riser card advice...
Fellow server-builders out there, this is for you. :) I was trying to build a cheap JBOD type storage solution running CentOS. Ended up snagging a Supermicro SC826TQ-R800LPB 2U case (12 drives slots) and a Supermicro X7DBE-O motherboard. Unfortunately, without thinking I snagged a 3ware 9650SE-12ML SATA RAID card which is a full height card and thus does not fit in my case. I have a few options here: - Go with a 3U case instead. Now I have a 16-drive case with only...

Rackmount PC hardware suggestions
...in a fairly decent configuration for Asterisk/Digium T1 termination. I am looking for well-built hardware from an integrator that understands correct component choice. Preferably, I'd like SCSI but I might be able to do Ultra-IDE platforms. I need at least two PCI slots in the chassis (so 2u/3u size factor is OK.) URLs are appreciated. If you have a vendor from whom you've received hardware for use with Asterisk and are impressed with their quality, do them a favor and send it along. Especially useful are hints about vendors who have "lights-out" motherboards where...

What NAS device(s) do you use? And why?
...heCus devices seems to be rather powerful as well, and you can stack upto 5 units together. But that's where the line stops. I'm now looking for something that could scale beyond 100TB on one device (not necessarily one unit though) and find it frustrating that most NAS's come in 1U or 2U at most. Maybe I'm just not shopping around enough, or maybe I prefer to well known brands, I don't know. So, what do you use? How well does it work for you? And, how reliable / fast / scalable is it? -- Kind Regards Rudi Ahlers SoftDux Website: http://www.SoftDux.com Technical Blog:...

Zfs best practice for 2U SATA iSCSI NAS
Is there a best practice guide for using zfs as a basic rackable small storage solution? I''m considering zfs with a 2U 12 disk Xeon based server system vs something like a second hand FAS250. Target enviroment is mixature of Xen or VI hosts via iSCSI and nfs/cifs. Being able to take snapshots of running (or maybe paused) xen iscsi vols and re-export then for cloning and remote backup replication is important. the...

Really Get 96 Simul Calls?
Hey guys, I'm looking for some realworld specs on somebodys machine that will work with the Digium 4-port T1/PRI card and that will support 96 simultaneous calls. Dell is soon to release the PowerEdge 1850: 2U, Dual 3.6Ghz Xenon, 1Gb DDR2 RAM, Dual 36GB Ultra320 SCSI RAID, Hot swap Powersupply, one 64bit 133Mhz PCI and one 64bit 100Mhz PCI for about $3,000. Tack on a 4 port Digium card and you have a Cisco AS5300 that can do FAR MORE for $15,000 less. I just need to know if this machine can support 96...
