Performance Issues
My apology for cross posting We have a DELL6850 with 8Gbytes of memory, four 3.2Ghz CPU's , perc 4 raid controller, with fourteen 300Gbyte 10Krpm disk on a powervault 220s, And a powervault 124T LTO-3 tape systems on a separate 160Mbyte/sec adaptec SCSI card. The disks are configured as two 2Tbyte raid 0 partitions using the perc 4 hardware. The problem is - reading from the disk, and writing to the tape is pathetically slow. The specs say I should get around 80Mbyte/second - in reality - is about 500 Kbytes/second Writing just to tape, using /dev/zero as input and dd to write, I can get...

Low performance
Hi! I do a rsync between 2 machines. The throughput is only 2 MByte/Sec. Each machine is a Supermicro server with 2 x 8 Core Opteron 6128 64 GByte of ECC RAM 1 LSI MegaRAID SAS 9280-24i4e 24 x 2TByte SATA Disks as a RAID6 2 Intel Corporation 82599EB 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network-cards Both run Ubuntu 11.04 64Bit. Both use rsync version 3.0.7 protocol version 30 There are no errors reported. The local read and write rate to the disks is 1,1 GB/s. A network test shows 800MByte/s over the dir...

Huge difference in reporting disk usage via du and zfs list. Fragmentation?
...on our X4500 with Solaris 10, ZFS Version 10? What except zfs send/receive can be done to free the fragmented space? One ZFS was used for some month to store some large disk images (each 50GByte large) which are copied there with rsync. This ZFS then reports 6.39TByte usage with zfs list and only 2TByte usage with du. The other ZFS was used for similar sized disk images, this time copied via NFS as whole files. On this ZFS du and zfs report exactly the same usage of 3.7TByte. bash-3.00# zfs list -r zpool1/vmwarersync NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT zpool1/vmwarersync 6.39T...

Problem with RAID on 6.3
I have 4 ST2000DL003-9VT166 (2Tbyte) disks in a RAID 5 array. Because of the size I built them as a GPT partitioned disk. They were originally built on a CentOS 5.x machine but more recently plugged into a CentOS 6.2 machine where they were detected just fine e.g. % parted /dev/sdj print Model: ATA ST2000DL003-9VT1 (scsi) Di...

ext3 + fs > 2Tbyte
Hi list this is actually a problem on a debian system but I thought you might be interested to hear of it and perhaps can offer some help. I have a woody box (dell pe750, dual cpu) running a kernel from backports.org (debian 'testing' packages built on a 'stable' box). The kernel version is 2.6.7-1.backports.org.1. This host is hooked up to an Apple Xserve RAID with a 2.3Tbyte
