Need a CONFIRMED working hardware sata raid10 card
Does anyone know of a card that actually works with CentOS 4 that supports Raid10? I don't think CentOS support software raid 10 from the installer. Entry server hardware
Hello, I would like some advice on a SATA RAID controller that is able to work in a 32 bit/33mhz PCI slot. I have been looking for a while but all I can find is 64 bit cards that cost over $300. I just need it to mirror 2 drives, and of course work in Centos 4.2. I am not looking for RAID 5 or anything like that. All the cards I find that would do this are fakeraid. Also, has anyone used

Transferring system to new RAID drive
> Is there a document with instructions for this? > I've had smartd warnings that a hard disk in my server is sick, > so I am installing a new drive (in addition to the old). Not to hijack a thread but on a similiar note. I have a Centos 4.x server with a 500G sata drive working fine except for disk I/O issues at peak times. I have copied it to a new drive before using 'dd

I've got a RAID card (3ware 9650SE-2LP) that wasn't supported by the in-kernel driver until 2.6.19+ Since CentOS 5.0 is based on 2.6.18-8.el5 is was looking for a way to incorporate their driver from the website so I wouldn't have to use the "linux dd" kernel option all the time. CentOS 4 and SATA RAID
There have been several threads about SATA in the past weeks and the problems with it. I'm still not clear, though, if SATA in general is a problem or just specific functionality or hardware. Do I understand correctly that "mainboard built-in" SATA RAID is a nono on CentOS? That I would need a third-party RAID card for this? What about SATA non-RAID or SATA2? Is SATA supposed to

DELL SC430 + CentOS 4.0 + SATA HDDs
Dear gurus, Three DELL SC430s were purchased by my company a few months back and I've been told that when they spoke with the DELL representatives, they were informed that these servers were fully RHEL 4.0 compatible. Specs of the servers:- - Pentium 4 - 2.8 GHz - 1 GB RAM - 2x 250GB SATA HDDs I tried installing CentOS 4.0 on it but it doesn't seem to be able to detect any hard

smartd and 3ware on centos5
Hi, I've CentOS5 box with 3ware RAID controller in it. I can't get the tw_cli command line tool to work, and smartd also barks on me. The tw_cli simply doesn't see the controller, no errors logged anywhere. When starting smartd, it is much more verbose. I'm getting a bunch of messages like this: Oct 9 22:15:15 toporko kernel: program smartd is using a deprecated SCSI ioctl,

...o get it from the system, because we do not have experience with CentOS (only FreeBSD). I would be very surprised if this is hardware related. We use the same hardware for several years, and run FreeBSD on it very successfully. It is a SuperMicro PDSMI+ motherboard with 3ware raid controller (8006-2LP). CPU is Xeon 3040 1.8 Ghz EM64 2MB 1066FSB (65W). Memory is DDR 2 Trancend 2048MB ECC Unbuffered 800. Error message on console is in "Additional Information". I am hoping that I should switch off some setting in CentOS to fix this, but I cannot find much useful information about this i...

I been looking at the : 1. Also I came across this one (less pricy than the 3ware ) LSI PCI to ATA RAID Controller Card, Model "MegaRAID ATA 133-2" Finally I got a Tyan server that has a built i...

Small office setup/using analog lines w/ Asterisk
Hi, We recently tried installing Asterisk for a small office. We figured the safest way to go would be to buy from someone who sold equipment specifically for Asterisk and to use a consultant that they recommended. However ... it didn't turn out so great. Sound quality is terrible -- the echo is pretty bad, and there are popping noises, too. Callers say that people on the Asterisk end
