Moving to Samba PDC - 2K+XP profile problems?
Hello all,
This is really a Windows question (and might be a bit off topic), but I
know that the people on this list would know the answers I seek better
than anyone.
This weekend I am planning on moving the office from a Win2KServer-based
domain to a Samba-controlled domain. The current server has been
showing some hardware problems and is running out of space anyway. I
have had my Samba maching running for two weeks - most of the time as a
PDC (different domain name than the rest of the office). I do not have

Mounting smbfs as guest at boot time

use. In a nutshell, I want to mount an win2k share as
'guest' at boot time on a linux web server.[1] It
just won't work any way that I've tried it.
I can quite easily mount a share as guest any time
after boot. I can put the following in /etc/fstab:
//2kserver/test /opt/win2k smbfs auto,guest,ro 0 0
#mount -a (or mount -at smbfs) works great.
I can also use smbmount or whatever. The only time it
doesn't work is if I put it in /etc/init.d/smbfs,
which is then called at the appropriate time in the
boot process. It produces an ERRnoaccess error (...

Pseudo-GPO Support for Samba
I have a bunch of W2K clients on my network and I want to be able to use
GPOs, but REFUSE to go the M$ route ;-)
Since GPOs are essentially registry entries, it might be somewhat easy
to implement a simple program that could give admins that fine-grain
control that is missing from NT4-style .pol files.
