R-beta: first view, then save plot or image?
...f I like it) Along a similar vein, is it possible to alter an image after it has been plotted on screen? That is, first create image, then decide I want a different palette of colours, then alter it. Again, is it possible to do without re-executing image()? (In my case, without waiting another 1-2hrs) Thanks very much for any help! Now I want to check whether a lower rule is a subset of a higher premises rule. And if it is a subset of higher premises rule then drop this rule. I am using following code but it takes too much time.      nor<-...

How to make rsync faster?
...on the hosts. The command I use daily is: "/usr/bin/rsync -a -e ssh", with a ksh for loop on the 250+ host names The version is: "rsync version 2.5.7 protocol version 26" Since rsync must do a chksum on the local and remote box on all files, the whole sync process takes over 2hrs even if nothing was changed. My questions are: 1) I know I have an old version, are there performance improvements in the later versions? I am not the SA, the process to request a new install is lengthy. 2) Is there a "parallel rsync" program? Looping 250 times to invoke causes rsync t...

Sockets stuck in FIN_WAIT_1
I have a rather busy Apache 2.2 server; tons of small & some large requests. It's a standard Dell 2650 server using the bge (broadcom) network driver. I seem to have a rather strange problem where after just a day or so Apache just stops processing new connections. You can connect to port 80, but trying to get Apache to process any data just hangs. There is nothing strange in

Sieve > Pigeonhole > external storage with LDAP or other data source available to dovecot
I am looking at porting and generalizing an old in-house patch that I'm using for the CMU Sieve plugin. It allows sieve script to test & lookup arguments from LDAP. Before getting too involved in this, I'd like to discuss my goals here in the hopes that someone else also thinks this would be useful. Many heads may make better design? Goal: ------ Allows scripts which are still
