how to modify the tickment of x-axis
hi
I plot a series of observation data every minutes in a day as the
attachment below
plot(wnd,type='l',lty=1,col='red',lwd=1,xlab=xxlab,ylab=yylab,ylim=YY)
In the figure, the x-axis tickment is the number of data How can I change
it

plotting the following data
Hi,
I need to plot $time on the x-axis and $f on the y-axis for the following
data:
time f
0h 0.00
0.5h 0.54
1h 1.15
2h 2.33
4h 1.57
6h 2.19
18h 1.45
24h 1.79
I want the order of the data-points to be retained and the x-coordinates of
each of the 8 data-points to be equally spaced.
however, using plot($time, $f) completely scrambles the ordering of the
points.
Any pointers to this newbie on how to plo...

smooth: differences between R and S-PLUS
...ferences between R and S-PLUS smooth() functions. I know
from the help that they worked differently, so I ask:
- exist a package that permit to have the same results?
- alternatively, someone know how can I obtain the same results in R, using
a self made script?
I know that S-PLUS use the 4(3RSR)2H running median smoothing and I try to
implement it with the code below. I obtain some result equal to the S-PLUS
one, so I think the main problem is understand how NA value from moving
median are treated.
The R result is:

can't understand "R"
...using this program. computer language is a foreign
language to me, and thus, i cannot make heads nor tails of the user manuals
from the website. i need to locate step-by-step examples of simple
problems such as "graph f(x)+g(x) and f(g(x)) for the domain 0<x<2" and
"graph 2H(x), H(x)+1, H(x+1)" i do know how to define the functions, but
that's it. is there any help you could provide me? i would appreciate
some help asap. thank you very much

Dovecot IDLE bandwidth usage
Hi list,
I just recently discovered the IMAP IDLE command and tried it out with
my Dovecot server. It seems to work fine and all, but it seems to be
using quite a deal of bandwidth, because of the "* OK Still here"
messages sent by the server at two minute intervals. I would argue that
is a bit of a problem when using the IDLE command for "Push mail" on a
mobile phone.
