p-values always identical for t.test of certain group of samples, why ?
Hi,
Given the following,
a <- rnorm(5)
b <- rnorm(5)
c <- rnorm(5)
a.1g.scale <- scale(c(a,b,c))[1:5]
b.1g.scale <- scale(c(a,b,c))[6:10]
c.1g.scale <- scale(c(a,b,c))[11:15]
a.2g.scale <- scale(c(a,b))[1:5]
b.2g.scale <- scale(c(a,b))[6:10]
c.2g.scale <- scale(c)
a.3g.scale <- scale(a)
b.3g.scale <- scale(b)
c.3g.scale <- scale(c)
I am puzzled why the p-values are identical for t.test(a.1g.scale,
b.1g.scale), t.test(a.2g.scale, b.2g.scale), and t.test(a,...

Pretty sure. I rebooted this morning.

Not much slower. VBox does an amazing job at getting near native
performance on modern machines (those with nested paging etc.). This is
definitely the best option if your computer has ~2g ram and 2+ cores. Give
the Ubuntu VM 2g and 1 (maybe 2) core/s and it should be fine.
Also, look into seamless mode. It lets you use windows opened in the VM in
the host OS. That sounds vague. Just Google it.

Coding matrix equation
Hi all,
I have two matrices:
G<-matrix(c(2.0, 0.5, 0.5, 0.5, 2.0, 0.5, 0.5, 0.5,2.0),3,3)
P<-matrix(c(1.0, 0.5, 0.5, 0.5, 1.0, 0.5, 0.5, 0.5,1.0),3,3)
and I want to run this equation to get a new matrix F:
F = [P+2G]^-1/2 P [P+2G]^-1/2
Could someone please tell me how to code this in R?
Many thanks in advance for your time.
Best wishes,
Matt

Asterisk Integration with Android device
...s been configured in
Android softphone 3cx. When I tried to call from Andorid phone to some other
IP extension which is registered in Asterisk, I am not able to hear the
voice, when I check the asterisk log or wireshark there is only one way RTP
traffic, from Android I am connecting to Asterisk via 2G GSM network.
Any idea would be appreciated.

RAM problem
Dear All,
I''m new to XEN and I''m trying to get it work under gentoo 2006.0 with a
patched 2.16.18-xen kernel.
My system does not recognize my 2G of RAM. It only sees 512M!
Adding mem=2G or mem=2000M to grub.conf did not help at all. The system
continues to see only the dom0_mem=512M
Can you explain me why?
My grub.conf entry looks like this:
title=Xen
root (hd0,0)
kernel /xen.gz dom0_mem=512M mem=2G
module /vmlinuz-xen root = /dev/sda2

File size limit = 2G?
...o All,
I'm running Samba 2.2.7a on RedHat 8.0. Connecting to a Windows 2000
200GB share works OK, except for files > 2 GBytes.
The linux box can see the large Windows files, but does not see their
correct sizes -- it reports an absurdly big size when using ls -l. Files
less
that 2GB show up correctly. Trying to create a 3G file on the Windows box
from the linux box, using:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/ntserver/bigfile bs=100M count=30
results in an error when the file hits 2G, with the error "file size
limit exceeded". Running the same command creating a fi...

At work, it takes significantly longer to boot our Ruby on Rails
application on a virtual machine than natively. I also noticed that disk
access can be quite slow on a virtual machine compared to native....

I found one post like this earlier (by Xin LI), but nobody seemed to

in my current conf, I think my kmem/kmem_max is at 512Mb (not sure
though, since I've edited my file yesterday for next reboot), with 2G
of system RAM.. Normally I'd run kmem(max) 1G (with arcsize of 512M.
currently it is at default), but since I just got back to 2G total mem
after some hardware problems I've been runnig at those lows (1G total
is kindof tight with zfs..)
Well, just wanted to report... The box is no...

The problem I have is that quota information is not updated when I

When ever I try to start the fourth domain I get an out of memory exception:
