The corruption changes when moving the mouse over the buttons, and seems related to other parts of the screen. I tried bisecting the issue and it is present at least since commit 2e2e95 (Jun 24 2007). I could try some older version if needed, but I'd need to downgrade the kernel and recompile everything.
