tinc throughput on alix machines
Hi,
I've setup a wlan ap using a an alix 2d2 (AMD Geode LX 500 Mhz + AES
Offload)
and am now trying to encapsulate the wlan traffic into a vpn (tap bridge).
Though even when disabling crypto and digest (there is a crypto engine
onboard
can be setup to handle tinc encryption), the best throughput I get
is aroung 2,9 MByte per second (wget+htt...

MeetMe() and dahdi_dummy on an embedded system
I'm playing around with an ALIX 2D2 board (http://www.pcengines.ch/alix2d2.htm). It's a fanless, x86 system using an AMD Geode processor with 256MB of RAM. Also available are two network interfaces, two USB ports and one serial port (no keyboard or VGA). I'm using the Voyage Linux distro, which basically is Debian Lenny optim...

[Bug 17699] New: Xorg crashes when trying to share a VT
...iver I was able to start a second X server for
the ati card on a shared VT (using the -novtswitch and -sharevts options). Now
when I try that with the nouveau driver the X server of the nvidia card
crashes, here's an excerpt from the Xorg.0.log:
(II) NOUVEAU(0): Fifo dump (lockup 0x3fffffff,0x02d2):
(II) NOUVEAU(0): End of fifo dump
Fatal server error:
DMA queue hang: dmaPut=2d2, current=3fffffff, status=ffffffff
(II) NOUVEAU(0): NVLeaveVT is called.
What does work is if I start the second X server without the -novtswitch and
-sharevts options on it's own VT, but then I can't use...

FPGA implementation
Andrey Fillipov posted the following update at his sourceforge website on
11/16/04.
"Coded and simulated the DC predictor module - hope the Theora description I
used matches the actual codec :-)
Also modified the modules released earlier to support non-coded blocks. For
the DCT/IDCT I tried to reduce the power consuption by minimizing switching
of the registers and counters when the

Off-Topic: Low Power Hardware
Hello,
I'm slightly off-topic here, but it is somewhat CentOS related!
I'm in search of some hardware that consumes a low amount of power for use
as a test-bed for Linux, various coding projects, and LAN services.
1) Low power consumption (10-15W ... maybe 30W at most)
2) Must run Linux without too much fuss (CentOS or otherwise)
3) Must have two NICs (fast ethernet or better)
4) Memory

CentOS or other Linux Internet Router/Gateway
Hi Everyone,
I've got kids who are growing older and I want to build a Linux box to
filter Internet access. I've got six computers on the Internet, plus
the laptops -- most run Windows. I'm not sure if it's called a router
or gateway or...? I don't mind doing the leg work, I just don't know
where to start. I'm pretty sure I'm *not* looking for a web server

[PATCH 00/12] block/bio, fs: convert put_page() to put_user_page*()
From: John Hubbard <jhubbard at nvidia.com>
Hi,
This is mostly Jerome's work, converting the block/bio and related areas
to call put_user_page*() instead of put_page(). Because I've changed
Jerome's patches, in some cases significantly, I'd like to get his
feedback before we actually leave him listed as the author (he might
want to disown some or all of these).
