User home directory UID:GID incorrect on VM Samba 4 AD client
I have a problem that has me completely perplexed. I have a home samba
4.0.10 (sernet-samba-4.0.10-5) AD server setup on a DELL 2950III running
CentOS 6.4. On my network I have another 2950iii with CentOS 6.4 used as
a NAS box, 2 CentOS 6.4 desktops, 1 Windows XP PRO box, 1 Windows 7 PRO
laptop and 1 CentOS 6.4 VM (on the Dell 2950iii AD server) all joined to

Dell Perc 6 disk geometry problem with RAID5 (both 6.3 final and 7.0 RC1)

We bought a new Dell PowerEdge 2950III with Perc 6/i and have the disk
geometry problem using 6.3 final or 7.0 RC1. Seems that we are not alone at

doing much maintenance except Samba updates.

occurred with an update from a 4.7.4 version. I was thinking of

Cannot boot CentOS 7 VM after updating Host CentOS 7 Kernel
I have something very strange that occurred. After updating the kernel
on my host CentOS 7 Dell 2950iii I have found that one of my CentOS 7
guest VMs will no longer boot... it just stops at the grub prompt (a
second VM functions just fine). I have no idea why this problem occurred
and have been unable to fix it. On google I have found several
suggestions as to how to repair grub but so far none...

RHEL 5.3 Beta released, beta-testers needed
Hi all,
The CentOS community is pretty limited in what we can do to the core
distribution. Since our mantra is "aiming to be 100% compatible with Red
Hat Enterprise Linux" we cannot fix bugs or improve the CentOS core
without waiting for Red Hat to make those modifications first. We have
limited leverage and a 6-month release cycle against us.

I run a small domain for my home that consists just of two user
accounts... one for my wife and one for me. I just have a single DC and
the home and profile shares are located on the DC. For years this setup
has served just fine giving me access to both linux and windows with a
unified authentication and file server base.
However, on Monday around 12 noon MST my wife lost permissions
