Windows Application Overriding Samba Settings
...ation. A new version of a Windows application that I use was just released. Unlike previous versions of this application, when it writes data to my Samba share, it is setting permissions to be 777 on all files and folders. In contrast, previous versions of this application set permissions to be 2750 as I specify in the "share definition" in my smb.conf file. In smb.conf, in the share definition I specify: directory mask = 0750 create mask = 0750 My understanding is that this should LIMIT the maximum permissions that can be set for a file or folder created by Windows or a Windows...

Standalone Samba in a Win2008 DC environment, transition to samba
...(or /srv/samba/users) get if it is planned to be ina standalone role... and using only POSIX ACLs. The relevant wiki instructions are stating: "Create the directory and set the correct permissions: # mkdir -p /srv/samba/users/ # chgrp -R "Domain Users" /srv/samba/users/ # chmod 2750 /srv/samba/users/" But there is a hidden assuption in the above that it is AD DC - "Domain Users". Or may be I should just create a linux group by that name or any other name and add all the future users to that group? In the back of my head I may consider converting this standalone...

Maildir permissions on creation?
The main reason is that I don't want to provide backup user with unnecessary write permissions within maildirs and mail user within backup logs dir. I was talking about mail_user:mail_group 0750 on dirs and 0640 on files. (Or, possibly, mail_user:backup_group 2750 and 2640.) 26.12.2014, 11:19, "Tobi" <tobster at brain-force.ch>: > Whats the reason you do not want to use default dovecot user. I don't know how I could investigate the reason for this BYE. Em 21/09/2020 17:12, Dovid Bender escreveu: > Is there anything in the Asterisk logs? Which side sends the BYE? Were
