Help finding the mode and maximum for a specified 'window' of time series data
I am relatively new to R, so apologize up front for my long question,
particularly if there is too much or too little information.
I have a large time series data set where each subject's behavior was
originally coded on .25s intervals for 3min task. I am trying to determine
if the findings are different depending on the coding interval (i.e. Compare
.25s to 1s to 5s to 10s).
I also need to see if it makes a difference if I use the maximal value
within the interval or the modal value within the interval. In other words...

Virt-Lightning: a cloud-like CLI for libvirt
...IP address of a freshly deployed
VM on which I can run my tests.
Virt-Lightning uses master QCOW2 images with backing file and avoid the
use of DHCP, this to speedup up the first boot. The configuration is
done by cloud-init. The whole deployment is rather fast. For instance, I
can deploy 3 VM in 25s (Lenovo T580).
cloud-init is used to create the user account, inject the SSH keys,
prepare the network configuration and resize the file system.

Possible bug in Opus 1.3 (opus-tools-0.2-opus-1.3)?
...you please post the original wav?
I am not sure what Audacity means by a logarithmisch sweep.
Is that a fixed number of Hertz per second (SoX calls that linear)?
Or a fixed number of semitones per second (SoX calls that exponantional)?
(The ogg comment says 5s=10Hz, 10s=20Hz, 15s=39Hz, 20s=78Hz, 25s=156Hz,
30s=312Hz, 35s=625Hz, 40s=1.25kHz, 45s=2.5kHz, 50s=5kHz, 55s=10kHz, 60s=20kHz
so it seems the frequency rises logarithmically.)

CIDR-matching in puppet manifests?
I have a few settings that change based on the network that a system is
in, and I have a heterogeneous collection of networks (a few /24s, some
/25s, a /29 and a couple /27s, and hey look a /16 in rfc1918 space
and...). So I can''t do simple regex matches on dotted-quad IP notation
and expect to get a complete story.
What I''d like is something like, I dunno...

can't even get to login screen. I get stuck at text saying: "A start job is

I can go to another cmdline session and when I try to run exec

When I try to run startx my screen blinks and I get this output:

Performance hits from seeding the random number generator
What kind of connection delays are people seeing with Ossh 2.2.0p1??
One of the programmers here is seeing delays of up to 25s, which is clearly
unacceptable. He's localized the problem to seeding the random number
generator - it appears that the _minimum_ number of commands needed to seed
the random number generator is 16. On his hosts (for a variety of reasons),
many of those commands time out. We're reconfigur...

improving vorbis compression with arithmetic coding and by exploiting temporal redundancies
Hi!
If you were looking foe a paper about improving vorbis compression by using
arithmetic coding and exploiting temporal redundancies (i.e. repeating sound)
you might have a look here:
http://web.interware.hu/rudas
Three ogg vorbis files were compressed losslessly, with compression ratios
between 2 - 8 % and compression time about 1/500 realtime (i.e. slow).
Theoretical upper bound of the
