Re: Exclude ActiveRecord in Rails3
What''s the best way to exclude ActiveRecord in Rails3?
In Rails2, one could just do:
*config.frameworks -= [ :active_record ]*
in the configuration block in environment.rb. Is it possible in Rails3?
Thanks.

Managing cronjobs as a file in solaris with appendifnosuchline for specific servers
I want to manage cronjobs as a " file " in solaris through puppet and
not using the puppet cron resource.
I will be managing the file /var/spool/cron/crontabs/root.
I want the cron file to be same across all servers except some servers
will have additional cron entries.
How can I append to the file /var/spool/cron/crontabs/root , something
like appendifnosuchline in cfengine?

Puppet host alias problem
Hi,
I''ve got the following resource:
host { "host.domain.com":
alias => [ "host", "alias" ],
ip => "1.2.3.4",
ensure => present,
}
The resulting line in my /etc/hosts file is:
1.2.3.4 host.domain.com
Any alias definitions seem to be ignored?
What am I doing wrong?
Best regards,
Dieter

Upgraded puppet-server from EPEL 24.8 to 25.1 - now seeing "puppetmasterd[xxxx]: Too many connections"
I have updated the 1100 clients that prior to the update used to
connect to the master just fine. Now after about 30 minutes of
running, puppetmasterd starts to complain "puppetmasterd[6875]: Too
many connections", and from that point forward will stop compiling
catalogs. Puppetmaster is configured using the Mongrel Apache
configuration as described here:

Beginner's challenge
Hello,
I begun my journey in Ruby on Rails last Saturday and I am having some
challenges specifically about the db
Where should I go for the specific error listing and how it may be
resolved. I googled and most that I''ve searched are not helpful.

Rendering a Partial as an Alternative
Suppose that I want to have a block of default content within a
template that is replaced with the content of a specific partial only
if that partial exists. Obviously there is the brute force approach
of simply rendering the default content unless the relevant partial
file exists in which case the relevant partial is rendered instead. I
suspect that there may be a more elegant way to skin this

Generated By handling CRUD Scaffold
Good afternoon.
I have two questions:
First question:
Can be defined at the time that I''m generating the scaffold the size
of
a string?
For example name:string (50)?
Second question:
I wonder how to proceed correctly to include new
fields starting at a CRUD generated by scaffold.
Example:
First step (I use):
script/generate scaffold User name:string login:string
Second step (I add

can checksum be set to none on a file if content is defined?
On a file resource, if the content parameter is set and checksum is
set to none, I am getting "Parameter content failed: Munging
failed..."
This appears to be a bug, but maybe I missed something in the
documentation and it isn''t supposed to work.
cat test.pp
file { "/tmp/foo":
checksum => none,
content => "this is foo\n",

Foreman / external_node.rb
Hello All,
I''m trying to start using external nodes under foreman, and I''m
running into some issues. I have the entries in puppet.conf:
[main]
external_nodes = /etc/puppet/external_node.rb
node_terminus = exec
The enternal_node.rb script is the one that came with foreman:
#!/usr/bin/ruby

Adding a selected checkbox to a new nested model without polluting the model
Context:
I have a GoodsReturn model with many ReturnedItem. For the new view, I
create a new GoodsReturn with many new ReturnedItems from a sale (and
its SoldItems).
Problem:
I want to have a Add/Selected checkbox with which the user can pick
the items he wants to return. I know I could use a ''selected'' virtual
attribute but I don''t want to pollute my model just for

Trouble developing Rails plugins/gems with generators
Hi,
I''ve been trying to develop a Rails gem/plugin with generators for
Rails 3. I first had a separate gem project with a gem statement in my
Gemfile with a :path option to point at it. But then I had to run $
rake install on each change in my gem to have Rails pick up on it. I
have now instead put my generators inside RAILS_ROOT/lib so they are
easier to test/develop.

I have a freshly installed and updated CentOS 5.4 system running

Foreman -- Reporting
Hello All,
I don''t seem to be able to get reports to display on the foreman
interface. I copied extras/puppet/foreman/files/foreman-report.rb to /
usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/reportsforeman.rb, instead of /usr/
lib/ruby/1.8/puppet/reports/foreman.rb. Config: Centos5.4, Apache/
Passenger, Puppet 0.25.4.
The reports are coming from the clients, because I can see them
