Ripley's K function within envelope--how to change the maximum distance?
Hi--I'm trying to run a Ripley's K analysis on a point pattern within a window of 1 square km. The maximum distance I want to use is the diagonal of the window, around 1400m, run in 50m increments. The function defaults to a 250m maximum--I thought this was simply the way I had plotted it, but when I exported the data there was nothing over 250m. I've looked into seq and ginterval, and I think that seq may be my answer, but I'm not exactly sure how to use it properly within the envelope function. Here's two ve...

GeForce GTS 250M: no acceleration...
...lands. Today I came in possession of a MSI-produced barebone laptop - a MS-1656-ID1 (which is equivalent in hardware to the GT640 "gaming" laptop). This laptop comes wih a video card that is identified as follows: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GT215 [GeForce GTS 250M] (rev a2) (pci ID 10de:0ca9). For your info, the closed-source Nvidia drivers for Linux also currently ignores this specific chip. Anyway, I was porting the hard disk from my previous laptop, which had an older Nvidia card that works quite OK with both Nouveau and Gallium. On this machine, the...

GeForce GTS 250M: Mplayer freezes machine when playing openGL
I am happy to report that the patches to support my video card under Nouveau have appeared in the mainstream kernel (currently running 2.6.34-rc5). But I have noticed that, if I run mplayer with -vo gl (output to an OpenGL window), the machine tends to crash after a variable time - from a few seconds to a few minutes. I tried with full-screen or partial, and even with the actual playback screen

Limiting the size of index files
...o limit the amount of disc space dovecot will use for its index cache? Other than putting that on a separate partition, I mean. We host our mail data on the file server, however, the index files are located on local discs on each of the mail servers and seem to grow without bounds. We're above 250M now and soon /var will run out of space. Thanks for any help.

Run out of memory
I am trying to use R to cluster 7129 samples, my data set is a 7129 x 38 matrix, when I trying to get the distance matrix using function dist( ), the memory exhausted, and I tried to set the memory when I run R by R --vsize=250M --nsize=1000k no matter what I set for vsize the result is the same, it says: Error: heap memory (256000kb) exhausted [need 198498Kb more] (this doesn't change) What can I do to solve this? Thank you very much! Hongli...

Cox model
...is a matrix 80*18000. When I give the coxph command I retrieve an error saying that cannot allocate vector of size 2.7Mb (in Windows). I also tried linux and then I receive error that maximum memory is reached. I increase the memory by initializing R with the command: R --min-vsize=10M --max-vsize=250M --min-nsize=1M --max-nsize=200M I think it cannot get better than that because if I try for example max-vsize=300 the memomry capacity is stored as NA. Does anyone have any idea why this happens and how I can overcome it? I would be really grateful if you could help! It has been bothering me a l...

...tion occurrence (binary?) in these structures and calculated several possible explanatory variables describing the spatial heterogeneity in several scales. At the landscape scale I have calculated the percentage of different land-uses (7) in buffers around the structures with changing radii (100m, 250m, 500m, 1000m and 2000m). For each radii I have generated a set of all possible models from the given 7 variables related to this radii. I have tried to account for random effects. A spatial random effect ? the structure itself as a repeated measurement, by adding the term (1|Road_Structure)....

Poor Performance WhenNumber of Files > 1M
Hi all, I plan on having about 100M files totaling about 8.5TiBytes. To see how ext3 would perform with large numbers of files I've written a test program which creates a configurable number of files into a configurable number of directories, reads from those files, lists them and then deletes them. Even up to 1M files ext3 seems to perform well and scale linearly; the time to execute

Duplicating Hard Drive Problem
...9; After investigating it, I noticed a problem with two of the hard drives one nodes 14 and 16. On most of the nodes, a 'df -hT' will give you the following: Filesystem Type Size Used Avail Use% Mounted On /dev/hda3 ext3 35G 1.7G 31G 6% / /dev/hda1 ext3 99M 14M 79M 15% /boot none tmpfs 250M 0 250M 0% /dev/shm master:/home nfs 660GB 33M 626G 1% /home which is as it should be. Note that the /home directory on all the nodes is nfs'ed over to our RAID array. However, on the faulty nodes, the first line of 'df -hT' is instead: /dev/hda3 ext3 3.6G 1.9G 1.6G 53% / It'...

CentOS5/6 Dual Boot
Alle, We currently have a CentOS 5.6 x86-64 server running using about 70G of a 500GB hardware raid partition. We'd like to install 6.0 alongside this installation in a dual boot configuration. We tried to install using the "Use Free Space" installation option, but the installer did not see the 475G of unused space. Is there any good way to do this, or is it even feasible? Best

FW: Memory problem
...ently, I noticed that after I rebooted the servers, the memory usage would start at about 80 M and even after started the Asterisk threads, I was running at about 100 M and even when there were calls, I was running at about 100M-150M, but then after hours it would start to build up to 200M and then 250M and then....finally close to 500M even after I stopped the Asterisk threads, almost like there is a memory leak somewhere. I wonder if that is normal, if someone can please tell me, or if not normal, what could be the cause to it and how should this be rectified. Thanks alot Tom --- Outgoing ma...

Dovecot imaptest on RHEL4/GFS1, RHEL6/GFS2, NFS and local storage results
We have done some benchmarking tests using dovecot 2.0.12 to find the best shared filesystem for hosting many users, here I share with you the results, notice the bad perfomance of all the shared filesystems against the local storage. Is there any specific optimization/tunning on dovecot for use GFS2 on rhel6??, we have configured the director to make the user mailbox persistent in a node, we will
