Player Problems
Hi Everyone,
Has anyone come across problems listening back to Mp3
streams using VLC?
The reason I ask is that we [ResonanceFM] stream at
128K and at 24K (using two different Icecast
instances). All players (Zinf, Winamp, Media Player
etc) can play both streams bar VLC which seems to
exhibt a skipping (i.e like the sound of a CD) problem
when playing the 24K stream. Incidently it plays the
128 fine.
The two streams are:

cpufreq affects rate in, at least, htb
Hi all :)
I''ve tested this and having a cpufreq that slows down the CPU
affects the rate of HTB. My ondemand cpufreq governor scales down the
CPU frequency about 40% and this is more or less the slowdown the rate
suffers, 40%.
Any known way of dealing with this without having to disable
cpufreq?
Thanks in advance :)

24k, 56k, and 96k, is it possible?
I have tried changing the sampling rates. I have tried the two you
mentioned below. Still no luck. Plus, if I disable one of the streams
(either the 56 or the 96) the 24k stream works fine. Is LAME having issues
doing 3 streams?
Thank You,
Mike

24k, 56k, and 96k, is it possible?
OK. So I am running a 1.5 Ghz P4 with 256mb runing redhat 7.3 using
Liveice, Lame and Icecast. Liveice and lame on the source box and icecast
on the streamer box. 96k and 56k streams sound wonderful. But the 24k
stream sounds like gerbils talking to each other. Any ideas of what would
be causing this?
Thank You,
Mike

MIPS optimizations
I suggest you try it. I do know that it requires the dsp extensions, but
it may work on a 24k. Just change the -march=74kc and see if it works.

24k, 56k, and 96k, is it possible?
Hi:
The reason 24kbps sounds bad is in part due to the fact that LAME has
annoying defaults for that rate. Using mono, it defaults to 16khz. Stereo
it defaults to 8khz. It can cope with 22.05khz and 11.025 khz respectively
just fine at those rates. I've not used liveice, but if it's possible to
specify th...

HTB traffic shaping odd effects
Hi,
I''m trying to perform some (what I consider) basic traffic shaping on
our network utilising HTB. I have mostly reused the example on the
lartc.org site:
tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 10
tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 100mbit burst 24k
tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 50mbit ceil
80mbit burst 19k
tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:20 htb rate 1mbit ceil
1mbit
tc qdisc add dev eth0 parent 1:10 handle 10: sfq perturb 10
tc qdisc add dev eth0 parent 1:20 handle 20: sfq perturb 10
tc filter add dev eth0...

HTB - Rate errors
...ing to get HTB working correctly on Centos4 (RHEL-based) with
kernel 2.6.9-34.EL. I have two gigabit network interfaces bridged
together and I have created the following:
tc qdisc add dev eth2 root handle 1: htb default 1 r2q 8000
tc class add dev eth2 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 100Mbit burst 24k
cburst 24k
(I have been trying different parameters).
The network is passing ~80MBits of traffic but HTB is not seeing the
rate correctly (which obviously causes problems when I try to shape a
sub-set of the traffic). These are approx 1 second apart:

Another relay question...
I currently have 3 mountpoints, 128, 56 and 24. I'm using darkice as
the source and I'm relaying to another server running icecast2. I'm
assuming that darkice is using lame for transcoding the bit-rates on
the fly and sending 128k/s + 56k/s + 24k/s to the relay host... which
is using a lot of bandwidth on the source network (which I don't have
much to spare). Is there any way to just send one 128k/s
mountpoint and have the relay side transcode to the bitrates and go
from there, that way I'm saving 80k/s of upload from the sourc...

MIPS optimizations
All those running Opus on MIPS should be interested in some new
MIPS-specific optimizations contributed by Imagination Technologies. For
now you will need to use Makefile.mips to build. Feedback on this new
code is welcome.

Opus on MIPS performance
Hi All,
First time poster to this group, please ignore my ignorance?
I?m trying to use Opus 1.1 on a 400MHz MIPS 24k CPU (AR9331, specifically, like in the Arduino Yun).
I?ve successfully built (I think) opus-1.1 and opus-tools-1.8 and they run, but are dog slow.
opus-1.1 does have the ?enable-fixed-point option set, as this chip only has soft-float.
My short test file (less than one second) encodes in 0....

Multiple Stream? Request for Config
Greeting all --
I'm having some problems setting up multiple streams with iceS, for
example, a hi-bandwidth and lo-bandwidth stream of the same audio. Could
someone post a config that works in this case?
thanks

I declare ices stable
...d 49-> [15/Jul/2001:11:31:05] [5:Source Thread] Clearing

etc. This interupts the stream badly and will force WinAmp or XMMS to
drop my server and go to the next selection in the users playlist (if it
exists)
I have modified my default_bitrate variable in the shout.conf file to
24k as the documentation suggests however T1 connections and cable
connections keep buffering the file which causes a delay. I have also
changed it to every iteration of 24k all the way up to 128k again. (ie.
24k, 48k, 96k...)
If there is more information needed please ask and I will provide.

Testing a forest trusts in Samba 4.4.5 AD environment
Database size would interest us here, with and without trust if you have
these metrics. Global catalog is supposed to stored some attributes of
almost all objects of all trusted domains, if me understanding is correct
and we have no real idea about what that means in concrete terms.

[Fwd: Icecast2 and ices]

OK. I've gotten everything running with one problem. I'd like to
downsample a live stream. It's talk, and I'd like to squeeze 200
connections into a 5Mbps pipe. I'm currently able to do a 24K mono
stream, but 11K would do the trick. I've seen references to
<downsample>, but can't find any hard documentation on it (other than a
couple sample configs and a statement about how it might not work with
live streams). Any tips?
