lm Regression takes 24+ GB RAM - Error message
Hello,
I am a rather unexperienced r-user (learned the language 1 month ago) and
run into the following problem using a local computer with 6 cores & 24 GB
RAM and R 2.15 64-bit. I didn't install any additional packages
1. Via the read.table command I load a data table (with different data
types) which is about 730 MB large
2. I add 2 calculated columns
3. I split the dataset by 5 criteria
4. I run the lm command on the split with the calculat...

Testing with:
_ 6.03-8.fc24 : still the same unwanted behavior as 6.03-6.fc24;
_ 6.04-0.1.fc25: works correctly (regarding this matter).
I still think that distributions using 6...

usbhid-ups pull request for consideration
...id-ups wouldn't run more than 10
minutes before exiting with a fatal error. This seems to be related to
holding usb_claim_interface() the entire life of the program. I've
refactored claim_interface/release_interface calls to be around only when
work is being done. Now usbhid-ups has run for 24+ hours without issue.
3. The very nature of USB in a home means that sometimes the driver will
lose communications with the UPS (accidently unplug the hub, needed a port
for a camera, etc). This shouldn't be a fatal error. I've tried to detect
these situations and let usbhid-ups retry grac...

Physically moving a mail server vs. cached DNS
Hi,
I just moved my main mail account and web content from a low-cost
(low-quality) provider to my own root server running CentOS 7. I
transferred the domain name from DNS management to my registrar,
configured BIND, Apache, Postfix, Dovecot, NTP, SELinux, etc. Now things
are running rather nicely. One thing is puzzling me though.
The updated mail server DNS seems to have spread around so far.

Given how long we have been running with code that claims the interface at driver startup, I am a wary about changing this behavior. Have you had a chance to raise this with the Linux USB folks? I don't see any reason why claiming the interface for an indefinite amount of...

Security branch lifetime changes
...:
en/security security.sgml
Log:
Add text explaining new guidelines for the lifetimes of security
branches. `Early adopter' branches will be supported 6+ months,
`Normal' branches will be supported 12+ months, and `Extended'
branches will be supported 24+ months.
Mark RELENG_4_8 as an `Extended' support branch and extend its
Estimated EoL accordingly.
While here, also extend RELENG_5_2 through the end of 2004.
(I was reminded that RELENG_4_8 had expired a few days ago by
cperciva@.)

pop3-login Error after dovecot 1.2.11 to dovecot 2.0.13
I recently upgaded from dovecot 1.2.11 to 2.0.13.
I used this command on my dovecont.conf after the upgrade and then moved the new file into place after removing some plugins.
$ sudo doveconf -n -c dovecot-1.conf > dovecot-2.conf
After 24+ hours with no issues I was getting pop3 login failures.

Kernel:[Hardware Error]: use of vacuum

It's a good idea, especially in low-humidity climates. Also noteworthy:
the air moving through a hose can cause a vacuum's hose or attachment to
build up a static charge, which is another reason it can be a bad idea
to use a vacuum in a computer.

Memory Leak
So, I''ve stumbled across bleak_house (http://blog.evanweaver.com/files/doc/fauna/bleak_house/files/README.html) - this looks like it may help me track down what is causing the Memory leak I''m seeing (be it me, Ubuntu, Debian, or Puppet).
First step: I''m going to clone the repo, branch
Second step: Learn Ruby - shouldn''t be too hard.
Third step: Do exactly what

[PATCH FOR DISCUSSION ONLY 1/2] scripts: Add a script for formatting all C code in the project.
.... GNU indent
isn't very good for this, but clang-format is a lot more configurable.
Therefore: the first commit adds a wrapper around clang-format which
runs it with the correct settings, and also does a bit of post-
processing.
Note you need clang-format 3.8.0, currently available in Fedora 24+
The second patch shows the changes that would be made. It's not too
bad, but there are some problems:
(a) The way struct initializers are formatted is weird. I'm not even
sure I understand what rules clang is following, since structs get all
sorts of different styles with no rhyme or r...

7-disk raidz achieves 430 MB/s reads and 220 MB/s writes on a $1320 box
...cess story'' may interest some readers here.
I was interested to see how much sequential read/write performance it would be
possible to obtain from ZFS running on commodity hardware with modern features
such as PCI-E busses, SATA disks, well-designed SATA controllers (AHCI,
SiI3132/SiI3124). So I made this experiment of building a fileserver by
picking each component to be as cheap as possible while not sacrificing
performance too much.
I ended up spending $270 on the server itself and $1050 on seven 750GB SATA
disks. After installing snv_82, a 7-disk raidz pool on this $1320 box...

High Port Count ATA
I'm trying to find a high port count ATA device. We have a lot (up to
110) analog devices that we need to bridge to IP. Rather than go out and
buy 110 ATA's, it would make more sense to buy a single chassis type
device with some number of ports and blades. Anyone know if such a
device exists?
Thanks,
Doug.

I have a problem with H323 the call disconnects when answered.
