EL8: SElinux / dac_override / tmpwatch
Hi, I'm moving some old stuff from EL6 to EL8 and one setup has a cron job which uses "tmpwatch -umc $dir" to clean some directories (/etc/cron.daily/tmpwatch). It seems that this triggers this AVC (SElinux mode is enforcing): type=AVC msg=audit(1598576896.772:4267): avc: denied { dac_override } for pid=11013 comm="tmpwatch" capability=1

.leap.seconds
I glanced at the .leap.seconds object and noticed that it has not been updated for the most recent leap second that occurred 2005 December 31, 23h 59m 60s. See the IERS bulletin here: http://hpiers.obspm.fr/iers/bul/bulc/bulletinc.dat Moreover, after a more careful glance at the .leap.seconds object, I noticed that there are two incorrect entries. First, there was not a leap second on 1986 June 30, and second there was a leap second that was...

New 3.12.7 possible split-brain on replica 3
Dear all, I have upgraded my replica 3 GlusterFS cluster (and clients) last Friday from 3.12.7 to 3.12.9 in order to fix this bug but unfortunately I notice that I still have exactly the same problem as initially posted in this thread. It looks like this bug is not resolved as I just got right now 3 unsynched files on my arbiter node like I used to do before upgrading. This problem started

external esata RAID box, how to spin down drives when idle?
...ng on its own, i.e, the drives stay spinning continuosuly, 24X7. Setting the appropriate power-save options in the screen saver or power manager screens doesn't seem to have any effect on these drives. Wondering if anyone can suggest other ways to approach this? Normally it is idle for about 23H, 57M per day, as it only runs a short backup session at 00:30, using rsnapshot which doesn't take very long at all. cat /proc/scsi/scsi reports: Host: scsi6 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00 Vendor: ATA Model: JMicron H/W RAID Rev: 0958 Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI rev...

Why is my rsync transfer slow?
...t 32 kB. I don't think the transfer is CPU limited. There are some CPU spikes but generally CPU load is less than 10%. The three rsync processes spawned by this operation has, all in all, used almost exactly 5h of CPU time in the 72h the transfer has been going on. The computer itself idles 23h a day. Nor is memory a problem. Memory pressure has been "green" since the operation begun. Kernel task has accumulated quite a bit of CPU time (57h when I write this), but on the other hand, the uptime is 25 days and all these 57h can't have been consumed by rsync. Some final d...
