rbind wastes memory
...__ end example 1 __________
Stepping into details I found the following (comment shows RAM usage after this line
was executed):
load(myFile) # 40MB (19MB for R itself)
ds.tmp <- ds # 40MB; => only a pointer seems to be copied
x<-rbind(ds.tmp, ds) # 198MB
x<-rbind(ds.tmp, ds) # 233MB; the same instruction a second time leads to
# 35MB more RAM usage - why?
Now I played around, but I couldn't find a solution. For example I bound each dataframe
step by step and removed the variables and cleared memory, but I still need 1140MB(!)

Best mkfs.ext2 performance options on RAID5 in CentOS 4.2
I can't seem to get the read and write performance better than
approximately 40MB/s on an ext2 file system. IMO, this is horrible
performance for a 6-drive, hardware RAID 5 array. Please have a look at
what I'm doing and let me know if anybody has any suggestions on how to
improve the performance...

OpenSuse 11 hvm domU: screen resolution up to 640x480
Hello,
I''ve recently installed a hvm domU opensuse 11 guest and I cannot set the screen
resolution higher then 640x480. This seems very strange to me, because
I don''t have
any problem to set higher resolution on a windows 7 domU, using the
following parameters
in the configuration file:
stdvga=1
videoram=16
What could the problem be? Is some video driver missing?
