bug in aac driver (revisited?)
I am posting this as I was researching an issue with my Adaptec 2200s controller, where I would get command timeouts on the controller under heavy constant load (either using rsync or ncftp to mirror folders). I noticed some interesting information that Scott Long posted about issues with 4GB RAM and the firmware. Well, I have 4GB of RAM, and a SuperMicro X5DPL-iGM...

OT: Testing and monitoring hardware RAID
Hello everyone, I was hoping to get recommendations on the proper way to test a RAID 1 hardware configuration. The controller is an Adaptec 2200S. I found an article, but not for this controller, that suggests to power off the system, pull one of the drives, boot the OS and power off again. Would this be the way to go? Also any suggestions on what to use to monitor it as well? Can't get smartmontools to work. Thank you and hav...

Hardware Raid cards RAID 0 / 1
Last week we tried to install Centos on a brand new HP ML150 G2 with AIC-8130/ Marvell SATA Raid card and it was a no go. We tried a few other flavors of Linux as a test and all had trouble as well. Unfortunately time didn't permit so we opted for a Windows solution to get the box into production. We have never had a problem with IDE and Embedded SATA (Non Raid) Next time we want to

serious networking (em) performance (ggate and NFS) problem
Dear best guys, I really love 5.3 in many ways but here're some unbelievable transfer rates, after I went out and bought a pair of Intel GigaBit Ethernet Cards to solve my performance problem (*laugh*): (In short, see *** below) Tests were done with two Intel GigaBit Ethernet cards (82547EI, 32bit PCI Desktop adapter MT) connected directly without a switch/hub and "device
