Deleted smb.conf
I have RedHat 9.1 running. Installed Samba that comes along with the OS to test it out. When I was playing with it, I deleted the smb.conf file inadvertently. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Samba utilities, but that didn't help. How do I get back the default smb.conf file? Thanks in advance. Satish Kumar

Charset
I have upgraded on my debian server from samba 2.2.3 (stable ) to samba 3.0rc4 (unstable). The only problem that I have on my PDC is that italian character as ? (a') ? (u') etc. are non treated as they should and this can cause profiles non to load correctly. What should I do? THX Davide Parise E-Mail: d.parise@iskranet.it Cel.: +39 3333063640 FAX: +39 06233241981

client code page and valid chars
Problem: I recently recognized that my samba server was misconfigured for some years now. I never used the charset and "client code page" parameters in my smb.conf to map windows encoded filenames with german umlauts to the unix ones. For that reason I now have lots of filenames with windows encoded german umlauts on my samba-share. OK. Now I want to change this fact (softly). When I

Samba 3.0.4 on RHEL3
There have been several issues fixes since the 3.0.2 release of Samba. One of the most important issues is a problem with password changing after applying the patch described in the Microsoft KB828741 article to Windows clients. I want to run Samba 3.0.4 on RHEL3. The version provided by RedHat is samba-3.0.2-6.3E. I can't find any other RPMs or SRPMs for RHEL3. Any help you can provide

Define 6.1 and 7.1 channel mappings
Tim's proposal seems reasonable but it conflicts with the FLAC documentation that says the channel ordering follows SMPTE/ITU-R recommendations. I think we may be butting up against an area where the standards aren't clear. ITU-R BS.2159-4 (http://www.itu.int/dms_pub/itu-r/opb/rep/R-REP-BS.2159-4-2012-PDF-E.pdf) doesn't define a 7.1 layout but simply diagrams several possibilities on page 27. DTS-HD seems to specify 7 different possible 7.1 layouts (http://www.scribd.com/doc/17630423/21/Channel-Layout). I think my preference...
