gluster volume + lvm : recommendation or neccessity ?
...that it seems recommended to use XFS over LVM before creating & using gluster volumes. Sources : https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Storage/3/html/Administration_Guide/Formatting_and_Mounting_Bricks.html http://gluster.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Administrator%20Guide/Setting%20Up%20Volumes/ My point is : do we really need LVM ? For example , on a dedicated server with disks & partitions that will not change of size, it doesn't seems necessary to use LVM. I can't understand clearly wich partitioning strategy would be the best for "static size" hard...

Arbiter node as VM
...here XFS with LVM this provisioning as mentioned in the - is it OK that my arbiter runs Debian 9 (Linux kernel v4) and my other two nodes run Debian 8 (kernel v3)? - what about thin provisioning of my volume on the arbiter node (https://gluster.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Administrator%20Guide/Setting%20Up%20Volumes/) is this required? on my two other nodes I do not use any thin provisioning neither LVM but simply ZFS. Thanks in advance for your input. Best regards, Mabi -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <http://lists.gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-user...

Xen 4.2 with xcp-xapi - operation not permitted
New build with Ubuntu 13.04 and Xen 4.2. Installed XCP-XAPI as the plan was to use XenCenter to manage the installation. I pretty much followed this guide here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Setting%20up%20Xen%20and%20XAPI%20(XenAPI)%20on%20Ubuntu%20Server%2012.04%20LTS%20and%20Managing%20it%20With%20Citrix%20XenCenter%20or%20OpenXenManager With a few changes for things that have been fixed since. Installation went smoothly with no issues - only change was to add my user to the root group so he co...

So if you start with out lvm, in future if you want to use snapshot then it would be difficult, hence the recommendation to use xfs on top...

...family (circa 2005). Each model number actually has two corresponding serial numbers (i.e. ON700 => ON700XAU & ON700XIU). The serial numbers with an 'A' are 60Hz, and those with an 'I' are 50/60Hz according to http://www.oneac.com/download/files/917183C3%20Universal%20Mount%20UP.pdf. ... All of these UPS models use the Oneac "advanced interface" to communicate with the oneac NUT driver. Given that each model number can have several serial numbers, it would probably make more sense to list only the model number in the driver.list file and not the actual serial...

Firewalls and ports and protocols
...Tos/GlusterFSonCentOS we only need port TCP open between 2 GlusterFS servers: Ports TCP:24007-24008 are required for communication between GlusterFS nodes and each brick requires another TCP port starting at 24009. According to https://gluster.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Administrator%20Guide/Setting%20Up%20Clients/ we also need to open UPD: Ensure that TCP and UDP ports 24007 and 24008 are open on all Gluster servers. Apart from these ports, you need to open one port for each brick starting from port 49152 (instead of 24009 onwards as with previous releases). The brick ports assignment scheme is no...

logging cdr to mysql does not fill clid field
Hello, I'm using Asterisk 1.6.2.0-beta3 with asterisk-addons-1.6.2.0-rc1 to write cdr into mysql. I followed: http://www.spiration.co.uk/post/1327/asterisk-addons%20setting%20up%20mysql%20cdr%20for%20Asterisk, and it is mostly working however CLID is not written to mysql, although it appears in Master.csv. What do I possibly missing? TIA -- Best regards, pepesz76 mailto:pepesz76 at o2.pl

how to create a local update server.
could someone please point me in the right direction for creating a local repository for centos updates. Scenario: I have one centos server connected to the internet, it provides ntpd, httpd, and other services to both internal and external clients (only httpd is serving external clients). the clients are connected to the first centos server and it functions as a NAT router for internet
