That 20 seconds is insufficient to allow a gracefull shutdown on this
system as it seems to need 40 or more seconds to begin a reboot by
entering the BIOS post routine.
So I tried to reset that to 120 seconds, which the battery can do nicely,
and I have a 20kw in the back yard that is up and running, lights back
on in 16 or 17 seconds, so is 98% moot, but found I cannot, even as
root, adjust this.

Synthesize low batt (LB) fron SNMP UPS which doesnot support this?

dying of COPD. Leave your ups setup as is but for under $10k (USD),
have an automatic home sized standby generator installed to run the
important stuff, then your power outages won't last more than startup
lags, 5 or 8 seconds. Because we have central air, I bought the biggest
generac, 20kw, nat gas powered version about 13 years back, but generac
hasn't answered the phone in 3 or 4 years, & the controller died a few
months back so the label got changed from generac to kohler, same 20kw
rating. So I have more than $10k usd in it now, but you should be able
to src a smalle...

unexpected shutdown, had to reinstall xorg.server
Greetings all;
I expect that I may not have the shutdown properly configured, but my
site was subjected to some bad weather related intermittent power losses
a week+ back, and I have an automatic standby plant, a 20kw, that usuall
fires up and has the lights back on in 7 or 8 seconds. So while the
power folks were reclosing substation breakers to see where the next
tree limb was shorting things out, the standby was shut down and then
restarted quickly 3 or 4 times. Somewhere in all the bounces, the UPS, a...

power. The comparative voltage level at the switchback point is a pretty
good indication of the battery condition, and I think that could be used
to trigger an "I need a new battery" email message well ahead of an
unexpected total fail shutdown.
I have a 20kw nat gas fired standby generator thats typically live in 5
seconds since the Mrs. has COPD, so I have never set that up here, but I
believe you can find that in the Nut docs. Unless its been elided in the
last 15 years. :(

Excuse me for butting in, but this thread points out a concern of mine,
to.
But I should preface this with the fact that I have a 20kw nat gas fired
standby with a sub 10 second startup time in the back yard.
The ups really should be smart enough to take a delayed shutdown command
and be able to do without further commanding from the monitoring nut
running machine, something I would think on the minute or minute-thirty

Can't get CyberPower UPS to work with Raspberry Pi 4

It has to hold up the pi, but only long enough for the 20kw nat gas fired
generac outside the back garage door to start, nominally 5 seconds
according to its -wall broadcasts. It shuts down if unplugged in only a
couple minutes, but will not accept a longer timeout. It does do the job
I bought it to do. The pi's draw and the interface card is about...

If you still have a backup of /etc from the Ubuntu install, there might be some clues in /etc/cups about the duplex settings (or which drivers support duplex,

Question on simultaneous IPv4 and IPv6 "any address" listening
Cheers all,
TL;DR version:
I've recently found that at least on my test box the `LISTEN *` line had
only set up an IPv4 `0.0.0.0` listener but not an IPv6 `::0` listener for
`upsd`. In fact, at least on a "dual-stack" system, it seems impossible to
bind to both - so depending on binding order I either lose IPv6 or lose
IPv4 directly (but have it practically as IPv4-over-IPv6).

But runs normally if started. On a rpi4 running an uptodate raspbian
buster, how do I set it to auto start at boot time?
Thanks.
