mdbox backup strategy
Hi, now we backup maildir with rdiff-backup every single day. Backup takes
almost 20hours. I would like to switch to mdbox, but how to acomplish
possibility of restore emails from any date what I want?
Now if I need to restore mails from the day before yesterday I put the
right date to parametrs of rdiff-backup restore command and I get what I
want.

Data movement across filesystems within a pool
I would have thought that the file movement from one FS to another within the same pool would be almost instantaneous. Why does it take to platter for such a movement?
# time cp /tmp/blockfile /pcshare/1gb-tempfile
real 0m5.758s
# time mv /pcshare/1gb-tempfile .
real 0m4.501s
Both FSs are with compression=off. /tmp is RAM.

A masking test program
There's a new module in CVS called 'masktest'.
I spent the last few weeks writing this program. It can measure masking
based on input from people. We need it to obtain better masking curves than we
have right now (from Ehmer...).
It's not finished yet, but you can get a feeling of what it's supposed to
do. It will measure the masking between tone and tone, noise /tone,
