C 7 installation annoyances
In the disk partitioner, I can't 1) choose to make the LVM with root and swap be on a RAID 1. Is there some way to do that, rather than two separate partitions RAIDed? 2) They don't align, so I can't clone /dev/sda to /dev/sdb as a failover (for /boot and /boot/efi). I've created those two, manually, and nope, it wiped them out, so I can't clone

Re: [PATCH] launch: Close file descriptors after fork (RHBZ#1123007).
Hi Richard, I see this patch is included into libguestfs >= 1.26.6 & libguestfs >= 1.27.24. I feel that version is too high. Now RHEL 7.0 runs libguestfs-1.22.6, RHEL 6.6 alpha and 6.5 runs libguestfs-1.20.11. Is that possible to backport this patch, in order to make this problem fixed in RHEL 7.0, 6.6, and 6.5? Thanks & Best Regards Qin Zhao (赵钦) China System and Technology Lab,

Q: how can I request to add an upstream patch to resolve a core dump issue?
UPDATE: It turned out QEMU still dumped core with that patch applied. That said, I'm still interested to know how to report issues with QEMU from centos-virt repo. [PATCH] launch: Close file descriptors after fork (RHBZ#1123007).
This refactors existing code to close file descriptors in the recovery process, and also adds code to close file descriptors between the fork() and exec() of QEMU or User-Mode Linux. The reason is to avoid leaking main process file descriptors where the main process (or other libraries in the main process) are not setting O_CLOEXEC at all or not setting it atomically. Python is a particular

ANNOUNCE: libguestfs & virt-v2v RHEL 7.3 preview packages available
...xfs To convert Windows guests you'll also need libguestfs-winsupport which is finally available in base RHEL 7.2. Please note these packages are *not* supported by Red Hat. If you find bugs, please file them using the link below: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=Red%20Hat%20Enterprise%20Linux%207&component=libguestfs To downgrade back to the RHEL 7.2 supported packages, delete /etc/yum.repos.d/libguestfs-RHEL-7.3-preview.repo , uninstall libguestfs, then reinstall libguestfs from RHN. I have not tested these packages on CentOS 7. At time of writing CentOS 7.2 is not out....

Upgrading glibc on CentOS 7 to fix memory leak
Hi All, I am in a bit of a conundrum I hope someone could give me some advice. I have a CentOS 7 server which currently runs glibc version 2.17.x. That version contains a memory leak described and fixed here: https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=17370 Suffice to say, this memory leak is causing some serious issues and I have read that upgrading glibc without also upgrading the entire

Paravirtualised drivers for fully virtualised domains
(The list appears to have eaten my previous attempt to send this. Apologies if you receive multiple copies.) The attached patches allow you to use paravirtualised network and block interfaces from fully virtualised domains, based on Intel''s patches from a few months ago. These are significantly faster than the equivalent ioemu devices, sometimes by more than an order of magnitude.
