Fwd: strptime() problem? - Resolved
Hi Gabor and everybody;
Thanks Gabor, with the alternative step you've told me the problem is
resolved. Comparing the two procedures:

timeBasedSeq stumbles over the year 2038 (xts package)
I have the following problem:
As expected I obtain
timeBasedSeq( 2037/2037)
[1] "2037-01-01"
>
However if I do the same for 2038 I get
timeBasedSeq( 2038/2038)
[1] "2038-01-01" "2039-01-01"
I get the same strange result if I use later years or any interval that contains 2038:
timeBasedSeq( 2037/2039)
[1] "2037-01-01" "2038-01-01" "2039-01-01" "2040-01-01"

extra groups passed by openssh - security issue?
...ontools supervise.
The configuration:
sshd version OpenSSH_3.7.1p2
Redhat Linux 2.4.20-8smp #1 SMP i686
supervise / daemontools-0.76
I see the following behavior regarding groups:
-bash-2.05b$ ssh mschulz at localhost id -Gn
id: cannot find name for group ID 201
id: cannot find name for group ID 2039
OA3 201 2039
The group my account belongs to is OA3, groups 201 and 2039 do not exist..
(a normal login or su, and 'id -Gn' works as expected)
It turns out that when I run sshd standalone (debug), it works fine -
only when
run under the supervise command I see the strange extra groups....

interpolation
Dear R-users,
I have a complex line by xy-values (ordered by z).
And I would like to get interpolated y-values on the positions of x = 0:600.
How do I get the correct points?
x=c(790,790,790,790,790,786,783,778,778,766,763,761,761,761,715,628,521,350,160,134,134,129,108,101,93,111,161,249,288,243,139,45,7)

Fwd: strptime() problem?
...wasn't clear enough in posting my questions.
I've got a postgres database which I read into R. The first column is
Timestamp with timezone, and my data are already in UTC format. An 'printed'
extract of R character column, resulting from the timestamptz field is:

IE, flash and icecast
I'm having trouble getting an IE client to hear mp3 streams through a
flash player. It appears to be the same problem as described at
http://icecast.imux.net/viewtopic.php?t=2039 - the flash player connects
to the icecast server and begins downloading the audio data, but never
actually plays it.
I've tried all the suggestions from that thread - I patched icecast so
that the Content-length is larger (tried all the suggested values -
319324133, 999999999, 600000000) and...

how about HP's iPad-killer slate PC

During CES (http://www.laptopspark.com/products/HP-Pavilion-dv6-3230us-NoteBook-Intel-Core-i3-370M240GHz-156-4GB-Memory-500GB-HDD-5400rpm-DVD-Super-Multi-Intel-HD-Graphics-laptop-2039.html) 2010, Hewlett-Packard issued a preemptive strike against the still-unannounced iPad by showing off its own tablet PC at Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer's keynote. Only briefly seen and largely undescribed, it may not have left a lasting impression on the audience, but it showed that, like Del...

Puzzled about the rspec tests generated by Rails3
...hat a rails ML/chat is better suited for that kind of
discussion. It just depends on who is responsible for that code.
Somehow I am too stupid to find that out, so please bare with me if I
produced only noise here.

The 1,000,000th fibonacci number contains ''42'' 2039 times; that is
almost 30 occurrences more than expected (208988 digits).
N.B. The 42nd fibonacci number does not contain ''1000000'' that is
almost the expected 3.0e-06 times.
