Unable to Install Packages from Binaries on Windows for R 3.2.3
Installing packages from binaries on Windows seems broken, when using
mirrors that are up to date with CRAN
install.packages(
'httr',
type = 'binary',
repos = "https://cran.rstudio.com/"
)
Changing repos to the Kansas CRAN mirror installs the package as expected,
but that could be because the KS mirror has not yet synced.
Someone pointed out that the PACKAGES.gz

Of these numbers, I think it's important to highlight that the 2 thread
case is 33% faster and the 2 -> 4 thread case scales linearly...

Rsync / SSH / Cygwin .. permission problems..
I am attempting to use rsync to "mirror" data between several windows 2000
and windows XP systems. I am a UNIX person by nature, so decided the
easiest way to go about doing this would be to use Cygwin with cron and ssh
running as services, then run the rsync connection nightly through cron.
Cygwin is installed on both systems and works perfectly. OpenSSH is
installed and running,

It's at 202K now in both places. Perhaps just retry?

[LLVMdev] Performance vs other VMs
This is not a quite fair comparison. Other virtual machines must be
doing garbage collection, while LLVM, as it is using C code, it is
taking advantage of memory allocation by hand.

[LLVMdev] Performance vs other VMs
The release of a new code generator in Mono 2.2 prompted me to benchmark the
performance of various VMs using the SciMark2 benchmark on an 8x 2.1GHz
64-bit Opteron and I have published the results here:
http://flyingfrogblog.blogspot.com/2009/01/mono-22.html
The LLVM results were generated using llvm-gcc 4.2.1 on the C version of
SciMark2 with the following command-line options:

So anyway, I have been using linux for years now, currently Fedora 12, and just recently I opened a box and found several of my old windows games. Starcraft, Heroes, Age of Empires, Stronghold, etc, some of which I installed.
Then I came to Masters of Orion. This game I figured my crappy netbook could handle, and I get a bunch of "??????????" s in place of the actual text in the
