Don't say I didn't warn you:

Don't get me wrong, I'll be as ecstatic as any of you to see Theora
and VP8 succeed, I just see the patent system as far more insidious
than I think many of you do.

rsync and the iconv-switch
Hello all,
I have problems with sending data names via rsync including german
characters like ??, ?, ??.
The daemon running on a SLES10. The Rsync version is: 3.0.3, Protocol
version:30.
My Client is a Windows XP machine with Rsync: 3.0.4 (or alternative 3.0.6),
Protocol version:30.
For the conversion between both machines I use the ??iconv=850,UTF-8? ?
switch.

Kate terminal window
Dear R-users,
I've recently switched to Ubuntu and I've decided to use Kate to edit my
R code. I really like how Kate allows one to simply pipe their code to
the terminal. However, I would find it even better if I could actually
get the Kate console to display error messages (or any console outputs
in fact) in red and my input in a different color. The instance of xterm

Samba file server slowness
Below, you will find the pertinent information regarding my installation and
configuration regarding my samba install. I am currently trying to move my

Everything works great, until I enable vfs_full_audit. Once I do that, the
server comes to a screaching halt due to the fact that when a user browses

Resolv.conf being overwritten
I am trying to add 127.0.0.1 to my resolv.conf. I added it through the
system-config-network but if I reboot, its gone. I do not have the caching
nameserver package installed. My ISP's nameservers are there. It must have
something to do with DHCP.
Also, in the network config GUI, should I select the IPv6 option for either
or both network cards?
TIA

[LLVMdev] Win32 COFF Support
Hi guys,
I have attached my patch to support generating win32 COFF object files. I
would have posted earlier, but my system drive crashed and I had to rebuild
my system; Luckily, my source code was on a secondary drive. I think this
would be a good beginning for ongoing support of the COFF object file format
and was hoping for some feedback as to whether it was commit worthy or what
was needed to

Guess everyone saw this already?
Google has opened up VP8, and has lined up about 40
companies/organizations (including xiph) in a coordinated launch:

Anyone know where there are quality comparisons between H.264, Theora,
and VP8?
