Samba4 server is not accessible for logon from Windows 2008R2 SP1.
I discovered the situation. When attempting to logon from Windows 2008R2 to Samba4 is made we can see in Samba smbd log the following important for understanding the situation lines: [2017/11/20 13:25:52.040094, 2, pid=7100, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0)] ../libcli/auth/ntlm_check.c:430(ntlm_password_check) ntlm_password_check: NTLMv1 passwords NOT PERMITTED for user...

Samba 4.11.0RC1 replication with Windows2012R2 ?
Hello Tim, Wow, great documentation! ? That really clears a lot of the terminology? for me. We have to remove our Win2008R2 Servers before Jan2020.?? Hopefully Samba 4.11.x will permit us to join a Win2012R2 Server at a 2008R2 functional level...? Your documentation gives steps on how to do this.? But I need some clarifications... Here's my understanding of the workflow: 1. Upgrade Samba DC's to version 4.1...

Samba4 server is not accessible for logon from Windows 2008R2 SP1.
There is Samba4 4.7.2 acting as standalone server on Ubuntu 14.04.x64. Also there is Windwos 2008R2 SP1 acting as DC in the same network. And also Windows XP/7 are in this network. Logon to Samba4 is accessible from Windows XP and Windowx 7 but not accessible from Windos 2008R2. As logon to Windows clients is accessible from Windows 2008R2. Username and password is asked by Samba and provided fro...

ad2003 schema while forest/domain at 2008R2 level
Hi everyone, I came across this issue today while upgrading a samba4 AD. The forest/domain level is 2008R2, however the schema partition is actually missing the msDS-isRODC attribute (and probably a few others). It makes the ADUC console to failed on that entry below. Here is the samba log message (which is quite explicit :-) Sep 28 16:55:36 srvads samba[27900]: [2016/09/28 16:55:36.819666, 0] ../...

Windows 2008R2 DC Problems
Samba version: 4.1.16 OS: Centos 6.6 Domain version: 2008R2 PDC OS: Windows 2008R2 DC2 When I promote a 2008R2 server as a secondary DC in the samba AD domain, everything seems to work great (Replication and all) Except I am unable to create NEW records. I can update and change existing records but not create any new records via the DNS tool on the...

CentOS 5.4 x86_64 authenticating against AD (Server 2008r2)
Hey All, Just wondering if any of you have been able to setup CentOS 5.4 to authenticate against AD on a Server 2008r2 Domain Controller. I am trying to complete this particular setup however I have run into some difficulties such as not being able to lookup domain users via getent passwd. Thanks for your input, Dan

Join 2012 Server to Samba 4.11
...there's a wmi request before attempt to join domain. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Windows_Server_2012_/_2012_R2_DC_to_a_Samba_AD But 4.11 can have a 2012 schema, isn't it ? So, does the issue is solved by emulating a wmi request or do we have to : 1. put forest level to 2008R2 2. put a 2008R2 Windows Server Active Directory 3. Join 2012 server with the 2008R2 4. Demote the 2008R2 5. Upgrade level forest That's a little tricky... Thanks list ! o/ Am?lie LE JEUNE, Technicienne syst?mes et r?seaux Tranquil IT 12 avenue Jules Verne (B?t. A) 44230 Saint S?bas...

Samba AD and adding a Windows 2008R2 DC
...pping rules. Make sure your domain controllers are running Windows Server 2003 or later. For more information on RFC 2307, refer to the following KB: How to configure OneFS and Active Directory for RFC2307 compliance: https://support.emc.com/kb/335338 Samba AD matches all of the above, it uses the 2008R2 schema and the SFU ldif. The problem I have is that the KB: 335338 is behind a login page, perhaps if this could be seen, it might be possible to see where the problem lies. > > I did a 'classicupgrade' to Samba AD from our Samba/LDAP config and > then I use this guide : > h...

Problems with accessing samba share in Windows 2008R2 domain
Hi, After upgrading the Windows DCs from Windows 2003R2 to Windows 2008R, the domain functional level was raised from Windows 2000 to Windows 2008R2. As a consequence of this action, I found that a Application Management GPO no longer worked pushing applications to the companies desktops. After some tweaking I found out in one MS document that a Windows 2008R2 domain can not authenticate a Windows NT server as part of the GPO Application S...

Issue with Samba4 and Active Directory 2008R2
We are attempting to connect a RHEL 6.8 server running Samba4/Winbind to a Windows 2008R2 Active Directory. We can make the connections, see the server in the "computers" section of the AD. We have been able to establish valid Kerberos connections and can establish a trust relationship. When we run the wbinfo utility we are able to retrieve group information, information...

SCCM and other MS tools compatibility with Samba 4.x.x (Functional level 2008R2)
Hello Folks, We're using Samba as AD servers along with Windows AD Servers (2008R2 FL). We also use SCCM (Current Branch) that is dependent on AD for lab deployments (Windows 10). Currently, SCCM (current branch) supports 2008R2 FL, but for how long??? Samba does not support 2012R2, 2016, 2019 FL. We'd like to remove the Windows Servers from our AD infrastructure, but woul...

DNS replication from Samba4 to Windows 2008R2 DC
Hello everybody, I'm evaluating samba 4 for production use, so I setup a virtual lab with 3 vms: - 1 Linux CentOS 6.5 x64 (with sernet-samba 4.1 package) - 1 Windows Server 2008R2 Enterprise - 1 Windows 7 Client (for testing doma ? I created the domain samba.local from windows, and then joined the samba4 box as an additional domain (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO/Join_a_domain_as_a_DC) The new samba dc is seen without a problem from windows, AD replication...

Samba AD and adding a Windows 2008R2 DC
...because of a third party device which does not want to talk to Samba AD (Isilon OneFS). I did a 'classicupgrade' to Samba AD from our Samba/LDAP config and then I use this guide : https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Windows_Server_2008_/_2008_R2_DC_to_a_Samba_AD to add the Windows 2008R2 DC to the Samba AD. This all worked out but I encountered an error on the Windows AD integrated DNS (error 4014 : The DNS server was unable to initialize AD security interfaces). The wiki page does not mention this and I was wondering which version of Samba was used when this page was created ? Loo...
