dovecot memory consumption beta vs. old "stable" series
Hi! I just wanted to know if anyone can give a definitive answer if dovecot beta's memory requirements are much better than in the old pre-alpha "stable" series? I'm using a rather old stable.20050712 release on an also rather old Debian Sarge box to manage my personal mails. I'm pretty satisfied with this dovecot release but it's memory consumption when deleting messages causes major troubles on this box - more than 500 MB of virtual memory allocated to the "imap" process...

Dovecot without a chroot
Hi all, We're running dovecot without a chroot (mail admin's request), but we're running it as a non-priv'd user with proper firewall setup. Does this seem to be an OK and average setup? Or is it considered a MUST to chroot something like the imapd daemon, etc. Thanks! -Matt

weird IDLE behaviour
Hi, So I was testing things with inotify notifications enabled and noticed that when I a) select a mailbox other than the inbox b) IDLE c) copy mail into the /new folder in that mailbox nothing happens! So I straced it and it always opens the inbox's new/ and cur/ directories for notifications. Is that the correct behaviour? I assumed that if I select some mailbox other than the inbox, IDLE

add inotify support to dovecot
Hi, attached patch against test76 adds inotify support and the --with-notify=... configure option that defaults to the current check for dnotify using no special method if dnotify cannot be compiled, and can be set to none, dnotify and inotify. If it is set to dnotify or inotify, failure to compile a test program results in an error. Also, it adds | file change notification method ..... :

PERMANENTFLAGS bug?
Hi, Im new to the list, so might be a FAQ allthough I havent found it anywhere: When I try to connect to dovecot/imap from snappermail (palm), I get a IMAP protocol error. The complaint is about: OK [PERMANENTFLAGS (\Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Seen \Draft ) \*)] Flags permitted. As you can see, theres an extra " )" after "Draft". Any clues on how to fix/bypass this?

chan_capi ASTCC trouble
Hi all I am wondering if anyone has had a similar trouble to this: The timeout arguments in the dial command does not work. The caller does not get disconnected when the timeout reaches zero. I am not sure if this is a chan_capi issue, or a asterisk issue. I am using CVS-head and chan_capi CVS head also. Any suggestions or help will be appreciated. Thanks Clive

Help: TE100P connecting to non PRI, ISDN interfaces
Hello, i've googled and can't find a definite answer, so here goes: I have purchased the Digium TE100P, and am setting up the connection, however the telco i'm supposed to work with does not support PRI/ISDN E1 connections. They only support E1/R2 lines. Is there a way i can make the TE100P work with this? I've not seen any zaptel.conf that supports this. Any workarounds?
