Wine release 20040615
This is release 20040615 of Wine, a free implementation of Windows on Unix. This is still a developers only release. There are many bugs and unimplemented features. hxplay versus realplay
Interesting. I downloaded and installed both HelixPlayer-0.4.0.187-20040615.i586.rpm and RealPlayer-0.4.0.186-20040615.i586.rpm on my Mandrake 10.0 system. With hxplay, the theora sample video, Mixtape.small.ogg, played as well as it does with mplayer 1.0pre4, which is reasonably well. But when I tried to watch it with realplay, the program choked and died. Also, when I...

Wine broken after upgrade
Previously, I had installed wine-20040615 via RPM for RH9, and some applications began working that had failed in the past. Yesterday, I downloaded wine-20041019-1rh9winehq.i686.rpm, That, in it self, was a chore, as the mirror sites in the US did not appear to have this rpm. Then, I switched to Germany. I don't know why I picked t...

20040616 segmentation fault
Thanks to Ivan for help. I seeked for wine-2004615 but: 1. The only 2004615 I found is for Mandrake. I am using RedHat 7.3, uname tells me that I have got Arch. i686 Can I use this Mandrake wine-20040615-mdk.i586.rpm ? It is described as i386. I am confused with this i386, i586 and i686. I thought I should only use what my PC is: i686. 2. I installed the package via KPackage (KDE-rpm-installer), but even now Glibc_2.3 is needed:: [root@localhost wine-20040505]# wine wine: failed to initialize: /l...

old Wine from CVS
Hi, I'm debugging an audio problem that started sometime post wine-20040505. That release works fine, but running under wine-20040615 the program fails. Looking at the Changelog for 0615 it says that 'lots of audio bugs were fixed'. Probably true, but it looks like one was created. So, how can I download Wine for a specific date? Say wine-20040525. I tried to figure out these CVS commands but it isn't working. Th...

Setup.exe error and mapping drives
Hi All, I have two questions, but first I am using wine 20040615, on Mandrake 10.0 Community 1. I have two programs previously installed under Windows that I have just made desktop icons for in Mandrake to run them under WINE. I did this as I am dual booting the system currently rather than install them under WINE. Both are for video editing/encoding. T...

networking issues
Hello all, I'm quite new to the list, but experienced in linux. For the last several months, I've been trying to get some basic things working in WINE (eg. Internet Explorer). I'm running Ubuntu (Hoary and Breezy), and debian (Sarge). It appears that no matter what version (20040615, 20041019, 20050310, 20050930, 20050725, 0.90) I try to install (or build and install), I don't get any tcpip. I've tried using winecfg and wine-tools (various versions) to setup, but with no luck. Applications appear to run ok in most cases, I just can't access the net. Any and all...

20041201 Installation Problem
I've been trying to install wine-20041201 in Debian-like Knoppix 3.6, Kernel 2.6.7 for a while now but my pre-existing wine version (2004516) didn't change at all. Naturally, I've tried winehq site and google for any potential help but in vain. Successfully installed latest Winetools anyway, but I needed to update my wine. I then removed my previous wine and tried to install 20041201.

...t too bad. Another problem is that some very simple widgets don't seem to work anymore. I don't know how these are called in windows api, but all sorts of text entry widgets don't seem to get drawn to the screen. This is bad as well. We've tested this far wine-20040914 and wine-20040615. They both have similar problems although the mentioned widget-problem seems to be more serious with the older version. (I can give more details about this, but I don't know if it's interesting) Cheers, Juho Vuori

problems with installer for bridge base online
...on pid 0xa In 32 bit mode. wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0009), starting debugger... Usage: winedbg [--auto] [--gdb] cmdline (with no wine-dbg prompt) and then sits there doing nothing until I kill it. What is the next step in debugging this? Am I doing something wrong? I'm using wine 20040615 (debian unstable package) with basically the default config produced by winesetup (fake windows directory, changed a couple directories, everything else default). TIA Evan Daniel

[fdo] UTF-16 support ?
Hi, First, I'm not a specialist of UTF. I've read (http://www.unicode.org/notes/tn12/) that Windows 2000..., Mac OS X, QT/KDE fully support UFT-16. I've just read (http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42893) that Mozilla 1.7 will include an option for UTF-16 webpages. But I don't know about situations of Linux, Gnome or other applications. Why not start pushing adoption

odd problem with mouse-button-1
Hi, I'm using a program (Vensim-PLE from Ventana) that has a graphics work area and some menus on some task bars. I'm running: $ wine --version Wine 20040615 And the latest version of the Windows program on a reasonably recent Linux kernel (2.4.12-15). My problem is when I try to use mouse-button-1 to select an item in the graphics window, I get this WINPOS_GetWinOffset error and I don't get the selection action. $ venple err:dc:CreateDCW no...

where are sources diffs?
Hello all, I'd like to update my local src tree (from Wine 20040615), and I'd rather grab a diff instead of the full 10MB so tarball; the README in source.winehq.org refers to some 'Wine-yymmdd.diff.gz' but I can't find any of such. Did I overlook some infos, or are such diffs not available, and I'm supposed to use CVS? thanks -- paolo GP...
