Samba 4.0.7 DC in Windows 2003R2 AD
Greetings, The ultimate goal is a full implementation of Samba4/OpenChange/SOGo but that onion has too many layers to shoot for the whole thing at once. So, I've added a Samba/Ubuntu12.04 DC to the AD and want to get it totally correct before proceeding with OC. I have two questions (at the moment): First, PAM is not included on the Samba DC and I need to know if it is a requirement. The

Make Samba 4 as Additional DC to Windows Server 2003R2
Hi, Thanks for your quick help. I await the patch. I know the source DC is all that clean. I am trying to clean the source DC using "ntdsutil". I am not sure how far this exercise will be successful. -- Thanks & Regards, Anantha Raghava Do not print this e-mail unless required. Save Paper & trees. AD on 2003R2 NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
Dear Help, We are in the process of setting up a new domain using Active Directory on Windows Server 2003R2. One of our goals was to use Active Directory for authentication on our AIX box (running version 6.1). I was able to successfully set up Kerberos, and the LDAP client to connect to our AD server so that you can now log in to the AIX box with users found in Active Directory. However, no matter wh...

Make Samba 4 as Additional DC to Windows Server 2003R2
Hi, I am trying to make Samba 4 as additional DC to a Domain Hosted in Windows Server 2003 R2. Is it possible? Or do we have to first migrate to Windows Server 2008 R2 and then to Samba? samba-toll domain join command comes upto Domain Provision and it reports OK. However when the replication starts it fails. Error thrown is: "Failed to bind to uuid

Problem with Winbind/Kerberos authentication against AD 2003R2 RFC2307
Samba Team, I have posted this issue before but it seems to have gotten "lost in the storm." I have several Linux servers set up to authenticate users using AD credentials. The one server that actually works right is running Samba 3.2.7. The presence of RFC2307 attributes in the user object, in conjunction with a UID in the range set in smb.conf determines whether the user enumerates,

time delay in group listing on win-machines
Showing the group of a folder/file in a mounted samba share under XP(SP2)/2003R2-Server need some seconds. Only the SID of the group and the owner is shown initaly This problem occurs not on a mounted share from a Windows-Server. 'getent group' on the Samba machine (via nss-ldap from 2003-AD) works perfect. I've no idea, where should I search. Can anybody pleas...

Moving from SAMBA to 2003 domain with XP SP# client machines roaming profiles stopped working
We have been directed to move off a SAMBA domain to a server 2003R2 domain. We run roaming profiles with samba and would like to continue this on 2003R2. After bringing all the XPSP3 desktops into the 2003R2 domain, roaming profiles wont work. I'm not even trying to use the SAMBA generated profiles. The error I get when logging on is: *Windows cannot l...

best practice for migrating win-dc to samba-dc
Hi: I want to test migrating windows dc to samba dc (without considering sysvol replication). I installed brand new 2003R2, 2008R2, 2012R2 (with 2008R2 functional level). I compiled samba 4.7.7, 4.8.1 at centos 7.4. 1. I tried to join samba as DC to windows with command: samba-tool domain join samdom.example.com DC -U"SAMDOM\administrator" --dns-backend=SAMBA_INTERNAL 4.7/4.8 to all...

Make Samba 4 as Additional DC to Windows Server 2003R2
Hi, I did upgrade the server to Windows Server 2008 R2 along with AD. However, when I attempt to add Samba-4 as additional domain controller, it is able to provision the Domain and starts to replicate the data. However, while replicating, it throws up an error as shown below and stops. Samba-4 will remove itself being additional domain controller. I tried this migration using Samba Version

gplpv driver correctly supports 9GB RAM in Windows 32bit?
Hello I have Debian Linux 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 Xen 4.0.1, 2 SAS drives in RAID 1, 16GB ram. I have virtualized Windows 2003R2 32bit where you install the latest version 0.11.0.295 gplpv After reading and reading forums and post testing, I noticed that the hard disk performance drops significantly when I assign the windows domU 9GB ram. (below I leave the config files) If I run the domU with 2GB of ram, I have 57% of...

Must Samba4 AD be provisionned with rfc2307 to use winbind ?
...: error: option --domain-level: invalid choice: '2003_R2' (choose from '2003', '2008', '2008_R2') Maybe I am being dumb:- A 2003 server is a 2003 server; rfc2307 is the schema in SFU (Services for Linux) http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=274 A 2003R2 server is not a 2003 server as it has a modified SFU already installed. Same goes for a 2008 and 2008R2. When you include the directive --use-rfc2307 on provision the schema used should match the one of the lowest function level. Just banging on the 2008R2 schema means that the documentation shoul...

Migration from Windows to Samba4
I want to replace a Windows 2003R2 DC by a Samba4 install. I installed Samba 4.0.10 and successfully joined the Windows domain. (after applying a small patch to join.py) The replication works fine, and the new DC now hosts all fileshares and successfully authenticates users and computers. Transfer of fsmo roles was also successfu...
