ext3-0.9.16 against linux-2.4.17-pre2
An ext3 update which also applies to linux-2.4.16 is available at http://www.zip.com.au/~akpm/linux/ext3/ Quite a lot of miscellany here. It would be appreciated if interested parties could please test it in preparation for sending upstream. Thanks. Changelog: - Merged several ext2 sync-up patches from Christoph Hellwig - Drop the big kernel lock across the call to block_prepare_write.

To convert a quarterly data to a monthly data.
...XXX 200106 XXX 200107 XXX 200108 XXX 200109 XXX 200110 XXX 200111 XXX 200112 XXX I googled for "convert quarterly data to monthly data R" but most search results shows how to convert monthly data to quarterly data, not the way I need. Is there any library or function in R can do that? Thanks very much! Cheers, Rebecca -------...

Tag Proposal -> Tag Standard
Alright. So, the tag proposal that has been labored over for some months has now been reclassified a bit. There new URL is now here: http://reactor-core.org/ogg-tag-recommendations.html And is prefaced by the following statement: "The following recommendations were developed by a community of Ogg/Vorbis users for their own use." I believe the implication is that this document

Links to archives broken by current->month# transitions
...nth-number directory where they will be afterwards? The current scheme makes people link to this month's articles with a URL that breaks afterwards. At least please provide a symbolic link or something from the directory that will later become correct (e.g. http://www.xiph.org/archives/vorbis/200112) to the current directory (http://www.xiph.org/archives/vorbis/), similarly on other lists. This will allow one to provide links that will stay correct but are not broken at the present (by typing in the month name by hand). [I'm trying to prepare a summary of links to multimedia metadata res...

Vorbisfile: Small Files broken in 1.0?
I am a game developer, and we used RC3 in our last game. Worked great. I'm trying to update to 1.0 now, and running into some problems. Specifically, I think a change to _get_prev_page() in vorbisfile.c broke the decoder for very small files. I have a file called "silence" that's just a silent wav file. It compresses down to barely more than the header, so it's _really_

Multiple random effects inlme?
Moi! I was helping to teach a course on mixed models this week, and we came across a problem with coding more than one random effect in lme when they aren't nested. As an example, suppose we have an experiment where we sample moths from several populations, and place the moths on different trees, and measure a trait (in this case survival of offspring, but that's less important). We
