[PATCH] v2v: Optimize convert for images with small holes
"qemu-img convert" detects zeroes in allocated areas and punch holes in the destination image. This may save space on the destination image, but slows down conversion when using outputs such as rhv-upload, which have very large overhead per requests. Using the -S flag, we can treat small areas filled with zeroes as data, limiting the number of requests, and speeding the operation. Here

help with shadow copy implementation
Hi, Over the past several days I have been trying to get the shadow to work with samba but haven't been successful. Can someone check below config and let me know if I am missing something? We are using Equallogic SAN and iSCSI LUNS to mount volumes. I can cleanly access samba shares on Windows 7 clients but just not shadow copy. I have referred the official how-to but couldn't get it to

virt-sparsify changing the apparent-size of files
Hello, I am curious why when using virt-sparsify the apparent-size of the file gets reduced to the actual file size? Is there a way to get the apparent-size left as the full size? In the man page for virt-sparsify it has a section on "IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT SPARSE OUTPUT IMAGES" and its output seems to indicate what I would expect where "ls -lh" shows the full apparent size

Resize guest filesystem question
Greetings - I am going through some testing steps to expand a logical volume and the corresponding filesystem on a KVM guest and have run across a deficiency in my knowledge. I spent the afternoon yesterday googling for answers, but had have come up blank still. What I am trying to do is resize the file system to use the additional disk space that I added to the logical volume that the

Monitor guest vm memory usage
Hi All Is there a tool to monitor qemu-kvm guest vm memory usage ( free in guest vm)?Nowadays, I have already researched some methods:1. qemu-kvm process memory usage.? ? ?Since qemu-kvm process memory usage always increases as time goes on, it will not reflect the memory usage in vm.2.?virsh dommemstat? ? ?Just as method 1.3.?virsh qemu-monitor-command --hmp [domain name] "info mem"? ?

/var goes read-only
This is an issue that I have been having with one of our production servers for a couple of months, just out of no where /var goes to read only. There aren't any errors that show up in /var/log/messages nor dmesg, I checked to make sure that the drives on error option is set to continue and there isn't anything as far as I can tell wrong with the disks. Also there is plenty of disk space.

Apparently no swap configured
Hello, I'm in a slightly unusual situation and I'd really appreciate some advice. I installed CentOS 5.2 on a server about a month ago. Today I happened to check the 'free' command and noticed that the Swap line reads as follows: Swap: 0 0 0 I'm pretty certain that when I installed the OS and created a custom partition table, that I defined a

Hello Rich, Thanks for the reply and information. > What is file.img? NFS Server on Centos 7.6.1810 dying without reason
I managed to get NFS statistics just before server rebooted. I can reproduce this every time. Question: Am I saturating the SATA bus on the NFS server so violently with the SSDs that the server hard reboots? Perhaps due to the RAID 6 nature of operations? Server info AMD EPYC 7281 16CORE 32 GIG RAM 6xSATA3 SSD 1.9TB in mdadm RAID6 OS: Centos 7.6 SATA controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

FreeBSD 9.0 - GPT boot problems?
Hi, I just installed FreeBSD 9.0-release / amd64 on a new machine (Acer Aspire X1470). I installed from a usb memory stick (the default amd64 image), which I booted by pressing "F12" and selecting it from the boot menu on the machine. I installed on a SSD (which replaced the hard drive originally in the machine), using the default scheme for 9.0 (GPT). The installation was painless (many
