X11 and vfonts modules on AIX 5.2
I am trying to get R-2.2.1 to pass make check on an AIX 5.2 at work (I know R-2.2.1 is not the latest release, but I encountered make errors in my attempts to install either R-2.3.0 or the R-patched_2006-05-10 on the version of AIX I am on. I will post those errors in a separate posting from this.)
So far, configure and make finish without error for R-2.2.1 using gnu make, gcc-4.1.0, and

Sharing of Libraries (S+ and R)
Hi,
Can anyone please advise if there is a neat way to 'share' libraries of
(previously developed) S+ code with R?
Specifically, within S+ I can use the attach(what = "<Chapter Directory>",
pos = 2) command, to retrieve previously developed functions and variables
to position 2 in the search list. [Some may be intentionally masked by

From 2.2.1 to 2.3
Hello everyone.
Currently I am running R 2.2.1 (windows), and I will like to update to
2.3. I wanted to ask if it is possible to update without having to removed
2.2.1; or do I first need to delete 2.2.1?
Thank you very much.

more on date conversion differences in 2.2.1 vs 2.3.1
With dates I get different results with 2.2.1 and 2.3.1. From my
somewhat naive point point of view, the 2.2.1 behaviour seems more sensible.
Running the code below in 2.2.1:
V1
2006-08-01 2006-08-01
1 1
With 2.3.1 I get:
V1
1154354400 1154440800
1 1
# testdate.R
t <- read.csv2('testdate.csv', header=FALSE)
t$V1 <- as.POSIXct(t$V1)
