Multichannel working at half speed with 2x NICs
...multichannel working with a virtual Linux server running version 4.4.5. Output of 'uname -a': "Linux filehost 4.4.0-38-generic #57-Ubuntu SMP Tue Sep 6 15:42:33 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux" I have two VirtIO NICs on my server that I've confirmed works at at least 1Gbps (via iperf) to my Windows 10 client which also has 2 1Gbps NICs. Since virtio interfaces dont seem to report link speeds, I've changed my smb.conf to reflect this as such: "interfaces = 192.168.1.120;speed=1000000000 192.168.1.118;speed=1000000000" I've also tried with and witho...

32 seconds vs 72 minutes -- expected performance difference?
## QUESTION I am sharing a 120GB folder with lots of files via Samba on a LAN (1Gbps connection). 1) Doing an `ls -lR` on the server (on this folder) takes ~32 seconds, compared with **72 minutes** on the client. Is this difference in performance expected (due to network and protocol overhead)? 2) While the client is executing an `ls -lR`, one smbd process on the server uses abou...

xen dom0/domU network speed
Hi all, I have problem reaching 1Gbps network speed with dom0 / domU (paravirtualized) on my centos5 installations. The fastest speed I measured in domU was about 800/600 receive/transmit Mbps, dom0 being a bit slower. I'm using bridging (eeither with default xen/centos network-bridge script or with my own scripts assigning vlans...

[Bug 5124] Parallelize the rsync run using multiple threads and/or connections
...illa.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5124 --- Comment #12 from Paulo Marques <paulo.marques at bitfile.pt> --- Using multiple connections also helps when you have LACP network links, which are relatively common in data center setups to have both redundancy and increased bandwidth. If you have two 1Gbps links aggregated, you can only use 1Gbps using rsync, but you could use 2Gbps if rsync made several connections from different TCP ports. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the QA Contact for the bug.

Unable to utilize past 1 gbps
I don't know if any such limitation exists, but maxing out just shy of 1Gbps sounds a bit more like an interface's line speed limited/set to 1Gbps somewhere in your production chain? You wrote that you have tested the bw - what did you use? Iperf? Speedtest?Maybe consider scaling with additional Icecast servers and use a load balancer in front? And then just scale accor...

My future plan
My future plan currently looks like this for my VPS hosting solution, so any feedback would be appreciated: Each Node: Dell R210 Intel X3430 Quad Core 8GB RAM Intel PT 1Gbps Server Dual Port NIC using linux "bonding" Small pair of HDDs for OS (Probably in RAID1) Each node will run about 10 - 15 customer guests Storage Server: Some Intel Quad Core Chip 2GB RAM (Maybe more?) LSI 8704EM2 RAID Controller (Think this controller does 3 Gbps) Battery backup for...

gigE -> 100Mb problems
I've got a pair of identical CentOS 6.7 servers, with SuperMicro X8DTE-F motherboards, these have 2 each Intel 82574L ethernet ports. The eth0 ports are plugged in with 10' runs of brand new cat 5e cable to a Cisco Nexxus 9000 switch (provided by the data center). These servers keep coming up at 100baseT rather than gigE. I've swapped ports and cables with a different server,

C7, igb and DCB support for pause frame ?
Hi there, I?m working on deploying our new cluster. Masters have 5?1gbps (i210 and i350, thus using igb.ko), configured with mtu 9000, 802.3ad. Works fine *but* I can?t get DCB working (pause frame, aka flow control, which is supported by and enabled on our switches). dbench & similar - as a valid benchmark
hi everybody would a tool such as dbench be a valid bechmark for gluster? and, most importantly, is there any formula to estimate raw fs to gluster performance ratio for different setups? for instance: having a replicated volume, two bricks, fuse mountpoint to volume via non-congested 1Gbps or even a volume on single brick with fuse client mountpoing locally what percentage/fraction of raw filesystem performance should we expect from gluster? roughly? thanks for sharing -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... LAN IAX2 trunk bad audio quality vs. LAN SIP trunk good audio quality
Hi, I have an audio quality problem regarding IAX2. I have 2 Asterisk servers interconnected via 2 LAN trunks at 1Gbps (no nat, no firewall). One trunk is SIP and the other IAX2. Normally, I use IAX2 but have noticed easily reproducible audio quality problems (voice in/out is OK but there's a "third" noise overlapping with a "scratchy sound" as if it were some kind of interference). So late...

FreeBSD DDoS protection
Hi, I have a router running BGP and OSPF (bird) on FreeBSD. Are there any best practises one can take in order to protect the network from DDoS attacks. I know this isn't easy. But I would like to secure my network as much as possible. Even if I'am not able to prevent or block a ddos I would like to get some info (snmp trap parhaps) regarding the attack. Then I can contact my ISP or

What are your bottomneck in using Xen solution?
Hello, Given that nowadays standard Dual Quad Core server is such popular, with Dual GB Ethernet, bundles of high capacity of SATA disks running as RAID 10. What are the factors that prevent you from installing additional VM on an existing server? e.g. 1. CPU 2. Memory 3. Disk I/O 4. Network 5.
