puppetd no-daemonize
So I have been trying to run puppet once in my kickstart %post scripts but
every time it detaches and daemonizes even though I have explicitly stated
otherwise. Am I missing something?

# /usr/sbin/puppetd --onetime --no-daemonize --verbose --debug

MAINLD and SHLIBLD
I would like to always use ${CC} for linking the main binary and the
shlibs.
Inspection of configure.in reveals that we currently deviate in the
following cases:
mainld shlibld
aix[2-9]* ld ld
alpha*osf* ${FC} -g -nofor_main -fpe3 ${FC}
hpux* ${CC} ld
Does anyone recall why we do not use ${CC} in these cases? Did anyone
successfully build R on these platforms with ${CC} for

Samba memoeur usage and IPC$
Hi all,
I have a question about memory usage and IPC$ share.
I'am auditing the swap usage of my server because I already have a problem
with a full swap.
I see that the smbd process take < 200Mo on swap :
Example :
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
24429 lge 15 0 197m 39m 14m S 0.3 1.0 0:15.17 smbd
but some process use more than 200Mo

auth process(es)
Hello Timo,
I've got some questions about dovecot-auth processes which I cannot
answer just by reading the doc :
[ Note : my problem is that I often see
dovecot: pop3-login: Can't connect to auth server at default: Connection refused
and I'm looking for a way to tweak dovecot.conf parameters to allow more login <-> auth connections
]
- I'm not sure I get the auth

Problem mapping Samba shares in Windows
Hi,
In our company we are currently running a Samba server and Windows XP clients.
At the moment we are having problems with mapping Samba shares in Windows.
Shares are being mapped through a windows startup script, which executes net use (with the option persistent:no) command.
For most users this works most of the time, nevertheless it often fails, the exect reason for this isn't clear

3.6.10 file handle leak under ancient 32-bit kernel
Hello,
I've come across a curious issue with
Samba 3.6.10.
When running 'emacs' version
GNU Emacs 23.3.1 (i386-mingw-nt6.0.6002) of 2011-03-10 on 3249CTO
on Windows Server 2008 SP2 x64 and issuing
a file "revert" of one sort or another
against a Samba-served file, the 'smbd'
process leaks two or three handles.
Eventually, when 16k handles are open,
this causes
