mclapply returns NULLs on MacOS when running GAM
Dear R-devel, I am experiencing issues with running GAM models using mclapply, it fails to return any values if the data input becomes large. For example here the code runs fine with a df of 100 rows, but fails at 1000. library(mgcv) library(parallel) > df <- data.frame( + x = 1:100, + y = 1:100 + ) > > mclapply(1:2, function(i, df) { + fit <- gam(y ~ s(x, bs =

Weird performance problem
Hi, I'm running a CentOS 4. server and I sometimes face a weird problem. It is a weird performance problem, and here is how I discovered it. This server runs OpenVZ virtual machines, and one of them is an asterisk server for my personal use. The first symptom of the problem is that the voice quality became flaky. So I logged on the server to see what could be eating cpu cycles, when I

Email pid issue
Hello gents, First time poster here! Current system running Centos 6.8. Buddy of mine posted a few days back about me wanting to move from Postfix 2.6.x to 2.8 to above, still under centos 6.8. I might move over to 7, but probably not for a while, don't have the resources presently to make this happen. Running Centos 6.8, postfix 2.6.6, clamav 0.99.1. Basic Centos 6.8 box fully patched

Ubuntu cosmic support
Hi, We noticed that "cosmic-cran35" recently went missing from http://cran.rstudio.com/bin/linux/ubuntu/ (apparently in mirrors as well). Was cosmic support removed? It still seems to be in the readme file. Mark Walker, PhD Computational Biologist Methods Group, Data Science Platform The Broad Institute Cambridge, MA [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Advice on article about installing R on Linux
Dear list, I've drafted an article on installing geographic R packages on Linux computers and would appreciate any feedback. Is the following text correct, useful and future-proof?: R?s spatial packages can be installed from source on recent (since Ubuntu 19.04) versions of this popular operating system, once the appropriate repository has been set-up, meaning faster install times (only a

Troubles using numeric in s4 class union
Hi all, I came across an issue in using the Matrix package which made it that I could only subset Matrices using the numeric class, but could not using integers. Steps to reproduce the problem: library(Matrix) # this class has *nothing* to do with Matrix setClass("MyClass", representation(myvalue = "numeric"), prototype(myvalue = NA_real_)) # this class also has

[cfe-dev] [PSA] minimum toolchain update completed
At Microsoft, we believe that we gain a competitive advantage by making the Visual Studio versioning story as complicated as possible. To wit: The compiler in the first VS 2015 release was version 19.00. For each update/hotfix release, we bumped that version by .01. When VS 2017 was released, we decided to keep the major compiler version the same to signify backwards-binary-compatibility with the

Firmware auto-select limitation
Hi everyone and Martin I would like to confirm the conversation we had in regard the possible limitation of firmware auto-select feature that’s been released since v5.20. I recall you saying that there were a lot of issues with auto select and later they shipped it into a Json file , it still didn’t solve all the problems, did it? Is it better to explicitly specify the loader and nvram path

Display broken after resume from suspend
Hi Joshua, Not a fix for your issue, but Ben noticed this (and fixed it): https://github.com/skeggsb/nouveau/commit/024bda7d2b0c3b0731433d60a494c78ab58cb216 which is what causes us to even try 540MB/s link training. However with this fix applied, it'll just give up faster. I'm told eDP is generally a single lane, and you're trying to get more than 270MB/s. So ... the question is ...

mclapply returns NULLs on MacOS when running GAM
Yes I am running on Rstudio 1.2.5033. I was also running this code without error on Ubuntu in Rstudio. Checking again on the terminal and it does indeed work fine even with large data.frames. Any idea as to what interaction between Rstudio and mclapply causes this? Thanks, Shian On 28 Apr 2020, at 7:29 pm, Simon Urbanek <simon.urbanek at R-project.org<mailto:simon.urbanek at

smbclient ignores configured kerberos ccache when using krb5-user on ubuntu/debian
Hello all. I'm encountering an issue where smbclient seemingly ignores the kerberos ccache as configured in krb5.conf when using "krb5-user" as the kerberos package and will instead always default to using "FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_uid". I tested each valid default ccache name type but smbclient completely ignores whatever is set as the "default_ccache_name" in the conf
