SIP 18x Messages
When I make an outbound call I hear a half of a ring and than silence until the call opens up. It seems asterisk is sending a 183 after the 180 message. My CPE device does not support multiple 18x messages in the same call setup. When we receive the 180 we present ring back to the phone, but when we receive the 183 we get confused and stop the ring back tone, but do not open up the early media path for the ring back to be played from the network. In Metaswitch the configuration knob to cor...

ideas about how to reduce RAM & improve speed in trying to use lapply(strsplit())
hi all, I'm full of questions today :). Thanks in advance for your help! Here's the problem: x <- c('18x.6','12x.9','302x.3') I want to get a vector that is c('18x','12x','302x') This is easily done using this code: unlist(lapply(strsplit(x,".",fixed=TRUE),function(x) x[1])) So far so good. The problem is that x is a vector of length 132e6. Whe...

Ipsec route and non-ipsec route
...m machines on IPsec VPN which is a subnet of my bigger LAN ( ie I have machines on the LAN which is not in the VPN ), specifically :- 192.168.132.0/29:0 -> internet ---> 192.168.1.192/27:0 ( local subnet ---> internet--> remote subnet ) # ip route list ... 192.168.1.192/27 via 21x.18x.11x.8x dev ipsec0 192.168.1.0/24 via 192.168.15.146 dev eth0 ... Question on IXAy
Hi. Pardon me if this is not the right place to ask. I'm new to Asterisk. I was wondering if I could use IXAy to forward my call via the internet to my destination, something of similar function to SIPURA 3000? Thank you.

Good ATAs from companies other than Sipura/Linksys?
First of all, I'm not knocking Sipura/Linksys. I have heard very good things about their products. I'm just wondering if they are the only quality shop on the market. I know about the zoom 5801 where you can't dial out the FXO from SIP, only from the FXS port. And I have heard similar about the HT-488 also. I want to know if anyone else makes ATAs where all of the features work

Asterisk RTP bridging
Hello, I have a small LAN network connected through an Asterisk Server (Trixbox). I was looking to create my own custom made softphones, and I have been looking into how to transmit and receive via RTP. Would anyone know how the Asterisk RTP bridging works, and if there is any documentation on it? How is the RTP stream routed through the Asterisk server? Do I just give it the endpoints and

Sizing MTA servers
Hi All, This is probably a bit off-topic but does anyone have any idea about sizing MTA servers.?? We have about 200,000 emails/hr? incoming and outgoing.? I am intending using Exim and Spamassassin on each MTA.? How many servers using recent hardware would I need to cope with this mail throughput?? What is more important on the servers, CPU or RAM?? Should I have mail going both directions on

[UART] GPS 18-5Hz LVC and COM1 silence, OK on Linux though...
Hi, I'm having issues connecting Garmin GPS 18 to COM1 on 9.1, I get nothing but silence. Identical setup works absolutely fine with Linux. I've got PPS wire connected to DCD, but that seems to make no difference on Linux, so I presume it shouldn't affect fbsd either. On Linux, I get: $ uname -a Linux ubuntu 3.8.0-19-generic #29-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 17 18:16:28 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64

UI regression
Hi, Earlier this year I "upgraded" from wine 20010510 to 20011226 in order to see if some kind of resource leak was fixed which caused screen redraws to get progressively slower and slower and slower and slower, .... That was fixed but there seemed to be a significant number of graphics and UI regressions. I've just upgraded to 20020228 to see if things were any better and within
