HTB Weird Shaping Question(Bug?). Please Help!
...The max uplink speed is 220Kbit determined by observation. In the first test, I limit the SUBCLASS_OUTRATE to 200Kbit. Both pings are around 20ms before I start the VoIP services. However, once I start the services, the pings jump up to 1800ms. In the second test, I limit the SUBCLASS_OUTRATE to 180Kbit. The pings jump up to 80ms, which is perfectly acceptable. After a few tests, I noticed that 180Kbit is a magic number, anything exceed that will generate 1800ms pings, and below it is 80ms. In my senario, the weird point is that the determining factor is the ceiling, but not the rate. That'&...

unexpected drop
Hello everybody, I have a Linux router with an ethernet adapter and a ADSL device. My router has a GRE tunnel connected to a remote IP address. Using "tc" I have configured 3 different classes: 1. 290kbit rate (used for Voip Services) 2. 180kbit rate (used for GRE tunnel) 3. 80kbit rate (for generic data traffic) For each class, using "iperf", I send some data from a PC (connected attraverso eth0 device) to a remote destination. The remote destination is the GRE tunnel terminator. The data traffic test is different for each cla...

Changing TBF rate on the fly results in drops?
Hi everybody, it is my first message here. I tried to browse throughout older posts but I found no immediate answer. I need to change rate of a tbf queue while ip packets are already enqueued by it. If I go: tc qdisc replace|change|link dev eth0 root tbf rate 180kbit burst 1540 limit 15400 as results all enqueued packets seems to disappear. I can see that from a: tc -s qdisc ls dev eth0 where backlog suddenly goes down to zero packets. Iperf performances also confirm that. Using custom kernel 2.6.20.1 on Ubuntu 6.06. Where can I look to understand what...

HTB not shaping correctly ? (or bad scripts...)
Hello to everybody, We have an ADSL link with uplink speed of 530kbit, the goal is to divide the traffic into three classes, let say A, B and C. A data rate of 240kbps must be guaratee to class A. The remaing rate must be assigned: at least 180kbit to class B and at least 80kbit to class C. The unused band of class A must be given to class B and C (if needed) The unused band of class B must be given to C (if needed) The unused band of class C must be given to B (if needed) We started with the following HTB configuration: # DEV_RATE=530kbit...

cbq dosen''t shape on MARK for one host.. strange!
...0 bounded $TC qdisc add dev eth2 parent 1:10$ipek handle 10$ipek tbf rate ${USERDOWNLOAD}Kbit buffer 1Kb/8 limit 15Kb mt u 1500 $TC filter add dev eth2 parent 1:0 protocol ip prio 200 handle 50${ipek}1 fw classid 1:10${ipek} done ------------- everything works fine. users can download at rate max180Kbit or whatever rate want. but one user, as I see on graph and iptraf with filter on his ip - downloads at rates >180Kbit (he gets even >40 Kbytes/s !) i have made some tests. his packets are marked correctly because graphs work fine. my scripts are written correctly too because other hosts c...

Rsync rules for Shorewall
Hi folks, I''m having an issue with rsync between my firewall and an internal box. It seems to be a shorewall issue (or correctly speaking, an issue with my shorewall config) because if I disable shorewall my rsync works fine. And I just can''t find it documented anywhere what I need to do. I have rules like this : root@userver:/etc/shorewall# grep -i Rsync rules

TCNG per IP...
Hi all. Im trying to shape some traffic, and i see that the best way to do that is using TCNG. The thing is: I dont know how to shape bandwidth per IP. Exemple: 192.168.1.20 ----> 256kbit(down) 128kbit(up) 192.168.1.21 ----> 512kbit(down) 128kbit(up) 192.168.1.22 ----> 180kbit(down) 128kbit(up) 192.168.1.23 ----> 768kbit(down) 128kbit(up) . . . Does anyone has an exemple script that i could just edit it and use? Thanks a lot. Cristiano

Fw: wondershaper kills eth0 :(
Hi, When i do ''wshaper start'' the interface i have defined stops routing traffic for some reason. It resumes routing when i do ''wshaper stop''. I''m using debian stable (3.0 woody) with debian''s default 2.4.18-686 kernel. When I run the script I get no errors, and when I do a ''status'', everything looks correct. Can ANYONE

tc not matching
Dear all, I''m having real problems getting tc to do anything useful at all. I''m also under pressure to get this fixed before the students start arriving later this month (I work in a university). In short, I want each IP address to be hard limited to 128kbit down, 64kbit up, never to be allowed more bandwidth than this. It is also important that the latency remains

Latency/burst problem with HTB
Hi all :) I''m new to this list, as I''m new too to traffic shaping ;) I''ve set up an FTP server in my ADSL line and I wanted it to serve as fast as possible as long as I don''t use my outgoing ADSL bandwidth, and I''m currently using HTB for that (succesfully, I must add). The problem is (when the FTP server is serving higher than its
