loss of information in pdf plots
Hi there
is it possible that pdfs generated using the pdf() function with default settings leads to loss of information? I was plotting copy number changes from Agilent 180k data in form of rectangles (rect()) while each rectangle represents one region of copy number change. When plotting into a pdf I noticed that some very small rectangles do not appear (even after extensive zooming) in the pdf using the pdf() function. But they do when writing the screen output into...

Truning on pid$target probes hangs Solaris
...lels during the hang using pid provider in
OS X and I see it is doing a bunch of ioctl''s on /dev/vm-main
From within Solaris if I start dtrace under truss, then I find the last
thing truss was able to record is a bunch of preads. I have the
output from truss if anyone is interested. (its 180K)
This could not have happened at the worse time. I was before
an important ISV showing off DTrace and how stable it is and
it hangs on me!
Any help on debugging this would be great.
Thanks

slow file creation
Hi all,
I'm troubleshooting an ocfs2 performance problem where creating files in
a directory containing ~180k files is taking significant time to
complete. Sometimes creating an empty file will take >100 seconds to
complete. This is a three node cluster. I'm currently running OCFS2
1.2.3-1. Are there any changes in a recent version that may address
this issue? What should I look at to troublesh...

getent and a lot of users
Hi,
In my environment I have windows ads domain with 180k users.
I use Samba 3.5.4 and I noticed that not always all users are returned when
I use getent command (sometimes it is half of whole list, sometimes this
list is empty).
Anybody has similar problem?

Sure, I've sent it by private email (180K is too big for list).

[Q] Example Data Files for Package
If the example data files for a package are extremely large,
should they just be put in a different package specifically
for example data? If so, are these data packages normally
submitted to CRAN/BioC or mentioned in README with directions
specifying where to download on developer site?
If these files are all dot-tsv (.tsv), they would seem
appropriate for the data directory. "Writing R

Can you send me the preprocessed .i file for this file?
To work around the above error, just remove "ATTRIBUTE_UNUSED" from that
line.

size limitations in R
I am a SAS user currently evaluating R as a possible addition or even
replacement for SAS. The difficulty I have come across
straight away is R's apparent difficulty in handling relatively large data
files. Whilst I would not expect it to handle
datasets with millions of records, I still really need to be able to work
with dataset with 100,000+ records and 100+
variables. Yet, when reading

DDoS attacks, what can be done?
Hi,
I run two live c-class subnets on the internet. Last
Sunday morning I was hit with a DDoS attack and it
hasn''t stopped.
I made modifications on my shorewall firewall during
Sunday to lesson the impact, as they were hammering me
with 180k/5sec traffic both ways (inbound and
outbound).
One of the primary things which helped reduce their
DDoS was enabling "norfc1918" on the interfaces (this
stopped about 95% of the barrage), but I also enabled
routefilter,dropunclean,blacklist and tcpflags.
The blacklist feature unfortunat...
