nfsroot work in progress
I've checked in an in-progress nfsmount program. It can mount over TCP from a v2 server right now. More to come. It's currently 17K stripped. By the way, the klibc-cvs notifier seems to have died again. <b

What''s eating my disk space? Missing snapshots?
Please can someone take a look at the attached file which shows the output on my machine of zfs list -r -t filesystem, snapshot -o space rpool/export/home/matt The USEDDS figure of ~2GB is what I would expect, and is the same figure reported by the Disk Usage Analyzer. Where is the remaining 13.8GB USEDSNAP figure coming from? If I total up the list of zfs-auto snapshots it adds up to about 4.8GB,

file corruption
...uter have rsync-3.0.9. The router is running rsync in the daemon mode. To test the set up, I rsync'd the files to the empty USB hard drive, then back to the NAS in a new temp dir. Afterwards, I did a local "diff -r" on the NAS. To my surprise, a few files were corrupted (only 3 out of 17K files). "cmp -l" shows single byte difference between the original and rsync'd files. However, I didn't see any error message on the NAS side or in the rsyncd logs. How is that possible? Doesn't rsync always do a checksum verification after copying the files? I have been usin...

ZFS and memory usage.
ZFS works really stable on FreeBSD, but I''m biggest problem is how to control ZFS memory usage. I''ve no idea how to leash that beast. FreeBSD has a backpresure mechanism. I can register my function so it will be called when there are memory problems, which I do. I using it for ARC layer. Even with this in place under heavy load the kernel panics, because memory with KM_SLEEP

IPhone wont delete IMAP messages from dovecot mailbox
Hello! I've got dovecot running with postfix. Have virtual users under vmail folder. When I connect with outlook, I can read, delete messages. When I sign on with webmail, also can delete messages, Mutt is working as well on the mail server, can delete messages. Once the message is deleted it moves to the trash. Works as it supposed to. But on Iphone, when I add a mail user, got the

Rsync / SSH / Cygwin .. permission problems..
I am attempting to use rsync to "mirror" data between several windows 2000 and windows XP systems. I am a UNIX person by nature, so decided the easiest way to go about doing this would be to use Cygwin with cron and ssh running as services, then run the rsync connection nightly through cron. Cygwin is installed on both systems and works perfectly. OpenSSH is installed and running,

It''s pure Ruby, but easy to translate to C. Here it is again. The source is 17k, but that''s because it includes a pile of constants for implementing future file ops, and simple routines to convert between unicode and ascii. Hope this helps, -- Timothy -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Name: junction_sample.rb Type: appli...

[PATCH] Increase MAX_SKBUFF_ORDER
Hi, The recent (changeset 7700) switch to use the architecture specific skbuff allocation routine breaks with very large MTU sizes. The below patch raises the MAX_SKBUFF_ORDER to 3. Could this be applied to make it the default? Thanks, Phil Signed-Off-by: Philip Auld <pauld@egenera.com> diff -r 136b2d20dc81 linux-2.6-xen-sparse/arch/xen/kernel/skbuff.c ---
